Ellen gets a job at a radio station, and winds up on air due to an emergency

While having dinner with Laurie on their one -month anniversary, Ellen gives Laurie a present : a charm bracelet with her house key. Ellen wants Laurie to use the key to access her house when she's not home. However, Laurie takes it to mean that Ellen wants her and her daughter to move in. When Ellen clears up the confusion, Laurie breaks off the relationship, not wanting her daughter to be hurt again. Ellen is heartbroken.

Ellen does a great job convincing everyone in the group to approve the show, but things hit a snag when Paige's boss hates the short cop/tall cop idea and wants a buxom blonde to be paired up with the tall cop instead.

There, she meets another woman who is also waiting for a friend. The two strike up a conversation, which becomes increasingly heated when Ellen finds out the woman she's talking to is Karen, Laurie's ex-girlfriend.

Ellen decides to bring this up as a topic of conversation on her radio show, which inspires many residents of La-La Land to become friendlier to their neighbours. In the midst of all this do-good mania, Paige manages to meet someone special. Unfortunately, everyone's good deeds start to backfire...
This marks the end of the network broadcast run of "Ellen" on ABC and CTV in North America. Reruns of "Ellen" will be airing daily on Lifetime network in the United States. Unfortunately, Canadian residents do not receive this channel on cable.
