Far out in the Chronoverse, we find diabolical doggie Dr. Alfred Peachbody lamenting aside his pet boy Benji. It seems they're stuck with no hopes of attaining the conquest of the human race. Benji, being helpful, suggests that they trick the Diggers into destroying themselves. To quote Peachbody: "We shall trick them into entering and leaving an era! An era that could nullify their very existance! That is, if we -ahem- stepped in and interfered after they left!! Heh!!..."
Back at the ranch however, Brit desperately awaits Gina's call saying that the hyperdrive engine is built that will allow the gang to go aid Stripe. Unfortunately, a warp field effect is activated to protect Britanny and Brianna from annihilation. They get transported to a platform constructed from Dreadwing's old time raft. (I don't have the G.D. Mangazine special, sorry.)
Gina explains that mensa-mutt is hatching some plan to "fix" their parents on their honeymoon night, thus nullifying the sister's existance. Brit and Gina then go to stop the bomb, with Bri in reserve. Once again, Bri feels the impact of her birth-by-cloning because of her age. (Possibly a year old at this time. REM - forward query to Arcane (the Brianna expert.))
The gals head back, stir-fry the bomb (under the newlywed's porch), and book out before they're noticed. Bad planning, wot, as Peachbody and Benji immediately pop in to deliver some 'flowers'. Some gamma bomb 'flowers'. (Boo. Hiss.) Only Brianna can stop them now...IF she has enough of an identity to overcome the time-bubble's erasing effects.
This meek, frail, defenseless clone of Gina and Britanny, armed only with her ingenuity, a power suit and a helluva lot of ammo, takes on the void.
She wins, proving that Brianna Diggers is no longer a mixture of Gina and Brit, but her own person. She proceeds to kick ass.
Peachbody, while facing imminent smacking, fires off a few bio-synthetic deterrents, (a fire-breathing dragon and a gargoyle,) then guns it out of there. (Insert driving dog joke here.) Bri diffuses the monsters and the bomb, and goes back to the future. (Sorry.) After a nice moment of philosophy, all THREE sisters hug and get back to work on the rescue operation.
Stripe is aboard the El Dorado heading toward the enslaved Kryn homeworld, Aebra. Piloting the ship is Jan (an Amaran - think anthropomorphic rabbits). They talk about who the big enemy is... the Dynasty.
Jan: "The legends say they are ancient. Aging at the rate a star would age... They say the Dynasty is ruled by Rio, the father, and Riel, the mother... They spread their family throughout the galaxy in shadowy strongholds...conquering civilization after civilization. (The Amarans) were sent by the billions to be 'recycled' in their soul furnaces."
After instilling fear and pressure into the heart of Stryyp'gia, Jan then shows him how to use the ancient Kryn artifacts given to him to destroy the Dynasty.
Imagine the "Warning! Warp Field Effect Initiated!" comment made in Reboot's "Warning! Incoming Game!" voice. It works. ^_^
This issue made for a good laugh, but the emphasis was more akin to a metaphysical debate over Brianna's individuality, or whether Brianna was truly Brianna or not. Confused? ^_^
I did find the parts with violence funny. As always, Mr. Perry allows his rendering of the dynamics of warfare to showcase his finest works. I also grew up with Wile E. Coyote, however. The cover (with its computer enhancement) strikes me as being a very fine piece of artwork, possibly one of his best. Good job, Mr. Perry.
The interior art is great as well, and shows how improved he has become with displaying emotion of facial features in the Japanese style. My favorites: Peachbody getting an idea, Brit during phone call #2, the destroyed Gina explaining "effect" and "cause", and the destroyed Stripe bearing the weight of billions. Wow.
