"TIME WARP - PART I"

Cover to 'Time Warp 1'

Time Flies When You're Having Fun...

This, the greatest storyline ever to grace the pages of both Gold Digger and Ninja High School, begins with Mita Celande and her companion May as they attempt to nullify a very large and very recent time warp in the Chronoverse. Help arrives in the form of the angelic (i.e. evil) time-travelling dog, Dr. Peachbody, and his aide and bodyguard, Benji. (Boo! Hiss!)

They tell Mita and May that the time warp could cause the universe ultimate peril, and the only way to stop it is to go and ask a scientist (Gina) to shut it off. First, ask politely, ask then not-politely. Anyhow, as the Diggers are working in the lab on a hyperdrive unit capable of getting them to where Stripe (Britanny's fiancé) is, May unexpectedly drops in. Mita follows only to have Peachbody (evil, evil) slam shut any access back to the Chronoverse.

Ryan rings the doorbell, and waits.

May, lost in the confusion, begins heading toward Gina's lab to shut it off, not-politely. Brit cuts her off, and May "blows" by her, but not for long. Soon Brianna arrives and the two are about to learn the newcomer when Peachbody whisks Mita away...

Every Time the Bell Rings...

Ryan pushes the doorbell again.

More confusion back in the Chronoverse as May inadvertently gives Peachbody access to Mita's (rather, Professor Azland's) time machine. Peachbody asks Benji to dispose of May, (not-politely), and fails when a misplaced grenade destroys Peachbody's own timecraft. The bad guys toss an unconscious May overboard into the Chronoverse.

At this time, Gina and Mita send Cheetah and Brianna into the Chronoverse to retrieve May. Realizing too late how easy that was, they are attacked by Peachbody's bio-synthetic weapons. Gina's lab is not-politely decimated.

Ryan, miffed, rings the doorbell again. Genn answers, fresh from a shower. The two hear the alarms and run. Gina and Mita, along with some added help, get more back-up when Ryan and Genn arrive. Now, however, they have to defeat some nasty lookin' badasses.

Out in the Chronoverse, the not-set-straight-who's-bad-and-who's-not May baits Britanny and Brianna closer and closer...

ProseWolf Says:

This is a good intro into the Gold Digger universe, if you like scratching surfaces. Except for Mita and May (possibly), no one from Ninja High School has surfaced yet. It clearly defines who the bad guys are: Dr. Peachbody and Benji.

I was impressed by the cover (although I couldn't for the longest time figure out why Genn, with nunchaku, was getting shot in the leg. Now I know.) The interior art is good Fred Perry, but the best comes later in the story...
