El Dorado, the Lost city of Gold (and Stryyp's homeland), goes to reclaim their homeworld of Aebra, infested by the Dynasty.
Elsewhere, Gina is left with the ashen remains of what used to be her lab. (Peachbody trashed it back in issue #32.) Our valiant heroine, armed only with a broom and sweeper, gets some help from her equally valiant sister, well..., cleaning up. Exciting, huh? It actually gets better because Brianna announces her successful discovery into the world of high-explosives. All (including Penny, who dropped by,) are very (sarcasm) impressed at her inventions. Until...
Gina and Penny get in a tug-of-war with a kawaii A.I. bit bomb named Peebo. Unfortunately, they activate the droid's arming function, and it scurries away, all happy to be blowing up more than just Gina's lab (unless the two fastest people can catch it first. ^_^)
Back in space...
...invaders from the Dynasty have invaded (hence, invaders) Stripe's ship. They include Rielda, the fell assassin of the Dynasty, and her son Rioldo, as well as some punching lackeys along for the ride. Stripe is forced to defend his ship from the intruders using the Kryn artifacts granted to him. He kicks intrusion butt, big-time. (Can we say "paddleball"?)
At the lab, Brit and Bri go after the l'il bomb (cute, cute, cute) with unerring failure. Brianna then pulls out the long-since-we've-seen-it LAZ-E-BOY OF DOOM to destroy it. Doesn't work. Peebo goes into Gina's room, and the girls enter with full intentions of getting it. Penny consoles Gina with some tea. (Guest cameo by Charlotte - HILARIOUS!!)
As it turns out, Penny tells Gina that she's got a hyperdrive converter, and that Atlantis will aid them in getting to Aebra. Stripe is forced to turn the Dynasty invaders into living stone, but Rioldo escapes. And, the girls get Peebo (not with a bang, but with a K-BOOM).
I was surprised by this issue. So soon after the amazing Time Warp series, and I felt let down. It was like when I watched Alien after Aliens. Something was missing.
The art: less than excellent. (Remember, I actually liked, and FULLY FOLLOWED without difficulty, every scene Mr. Perry did in the Time Warp series.) In this issue, I felt that although I knew he was drawing it, it just wasn't his style. (For reference, in this issue, the first time Rielda encounters Stripe's telekinetic sphere, THAT'S his style.)
The story: Well done, considering he switches constantly between the Peebo chase scene and the Stripe fight in outer space. I had no problems with it, save the fact that it seems he put together a chase scene that was not needed, only to aid the essential Stripe portions and Penny's involvement. Even now, I'm still confused who Rioldo is. Hopefully, that will be cleared up.
