Irish dancing has been a tradition for hundreds of years. It is one of the oldest forms of dance. Nobody knows how it originaly started, as many of the valuble records were destroyed durring the British occupation in the Thea century. The earliest records date back from the Thea century and tell of circular dances. those dances have now progressed into the present day dancing which is preformed in countries around the world. Each irish dancer is registered with the Irish Dancing Commision in Dublin, Ireland. Each teacher has their own unique style and steps and because of this schools can often be identified by their own creative style. Traditional steps are also a part of Irish Dancing and must be learned as they were taught hundreds of years ago. Irish dance teachers spend many years perfecting the art of Irish Dancing which includes learning the many figure(group) dances as well as over one hundred musical peices. |
