The Continuing Story of Deep Space 2: Page 40
The teacher's smile was like a magic magnet. Thomas felt his heart bouncing in every single cell. He just kept staring at her. He didn't even heard the children sing anymore. As the teacher sent the children back into the classroom, she approached Thomas very slowly.
"Who are you sir ?", she asked with a tempting voice.
Thomas didn't know what to say. More people came into the street to see who the stranger could be. A few minutes later the cadet was in the middle of a parade to the major's home. When the party arrived an elderly man invited Thomas inside. He had to tell everything. Where, what, who and everything else. But Thomas was still in the spell of those beautiful eyes of the teacher who's name was Viola. The major told about his town, it's complete history and much much more. He also told about his daughter Viola who was the teacher in the town. Omeloni, he said the word again, Omeloni. That was a beautiful name for a beautiful town, wasn't it. The only beautiful subject, according Thomas, was Viola.
An hour later Viola arrived home and invited Thomas to share the meal. The young man could only nod. He had to be dreaming. The big wooden table was setup for a simple meal. It was very tastefull, but Thomas couldn't remember any of the names of the dishes. He was preoccupied, listening to only Viola. Viola was talking and talking. The meal lasted for ever. But then it was time to go to sleep. It was a pleasure for Thomas to be invited to spend the night. Tomorrow he could tell about himself. Now it was time to rest.
The room was very cosy and the bed was warm. It didn't last long before the cadet was asleep. But a moving body which was laying herself beside him woke him up. It was Viola getting herself very very close to him.
"You are a soldier aren't you ? I just love soldiers. You must tell me about your battles, your base, the other soldiers, your friends..."
"We got him sir ! He is right here !"
"Get him out of there ! Now !"
"We are trying sir ! Yes ! We got him !"
"I will be there imediately !"
Two hands on his shoulders were shaking Thomas awake. It was captain Arthur. No. He looked a lot like the captain, but much older. Maybe this man was his father. That was a strange Starfleet uniform. What was happening ?
"Wake up Tho ... Cadet."
"Admiral, we have to get him back now ! Sir !"
"I heard you Jan ! Stop shouting ! Cadet ! You have to remember what I say now. The Giloppen have the ability to execute time scans. It is not like the advanced systems we use, but their system works. We will loose control in about ten years from now. You have to tell m ... captain Arthur. The Giloppen cannot travel in time yet, but as you can see, they were able to get you in our time. We have eliminated that possibility for now, but we cannot prevent that the Giloppen keep scanning time. They will be able to anticipate and to addapt."
"Sir !"
"Remember Cadet."
Stardate 75948.2: Captain Thomas Personal log
After a patrol of two weeks we have finally docked on the USS Ajax again. We did better than last patrol. Only moderate damage to our patrol ship and we destroyed sixteen Giloppen battleships and two destroyers. As soon as I got on board I heard the rumours that the Giloppen can scan time. This is a very bad thing for us. They can now scan the future and learn their own technological features and then integrate them into their own systems. We seem to be in a endless paradox, which can only be called a major nightmare. Until now the Time Control Division has everything under control. But what has to be done now is going to the past again and prepare ourselves for this. We have to close this open ring.
