Degree Requirements & Guidelines

Your topic must be approved by your Department Head. Your degree will be given when your thesis has been approved by your Department Head. The final work will be archived in the Dean's List of the X-Files University website. Requirements for degrees available at the College of Interdisciplinary Studies are:

1. Bachelors of Arts or Sciences. One thesis at least 6K in length (in ASCII text format - not in Microsoft Word or Word Perfect. This would be the equivalent to at least a 2 page single-spaced paper) on an approved subject.

2. Masters of Arts or Sciences. Requires either a second thesis at least 12K in length, OR two more essays at least 6K in length within the same department.

3. Doctorate. The highest degree available. Requires either a third separate thesis at least 18K in length, OR three more essays at least 6K in length within the same department.

There is no time limit on completing essays, but please communicate with your Department Head on their progress. Once essays are submitted, please allow a couple of weeks for them to be read and evaluated. Real Life sometimes encroaches upon us all. ;->

Department Descriptions

Department of Interdisciplinary Studies.
Emile St. Claire, Department Head

Courses in this college cover areas of "non-traditional" study and those requiring knowledge of fields outside of the X-Files, but nevertheless can be directly related to the show.

These studies include, but are NOT limited to:

School of Slashology/Gay Studies, College of Interdisciplinary Studies.
Elaine Wong, Department Head

An often misunderstood phenomenon involving Mulder/Krycek, Skinner/CSM, Scully/other relationships and other m/m, f/f, variations thereof pairings. The term "slash" originates from "Star Trek" fanfiction and literally refers to the "/" between the names. Interestingly, writers of slash predominately are heterosexual females.

This department is known as both Slashology and Gay Studies as one could focus on:

Original topics of research in addition to those suggested above are encouraged.

School of X-Philes Studies, College of Interdisciplinary Studies.
Jo Nelson , Department Head

The subject of this area of Interdisciplinary studies is the fan. Without X-Philes, there would, of course, be no X-Files.

Fields of study can be pursued in any pertinent area relating to X-Philes. Areas of special interest include:

Students may decide to pursue research in one of the areas listed above, but should feel free to submit original topics to his/her thesis advisor.
