Small Potatoes

On Sunday, March 22, 1998, the episode, "Small Potatoes", aired for the third time. It previously aired on September 21, 1997 and April 20, 1997. That episode of The X-Files was the 20th episode of season four.

In this episode, a man, named Eddie Van Blundht, has the ability to transfrom his appearence to look like other people. He the biological father of five babies in the same town. All of these babies have a tail like their father. Van Blundht had changed his appearance to like like the husbands and slept with each of the women. Van Blundht ends up capturing Agent Mulder and 'morphing' into him. The fake Mulder goes to Scully's apartment with a bottle of wine to talk. Scully admits that she is "seeing a whole new side" of him which she likes. Then the fake Mulder leans toward her and they are about to kiss when the real Mulder bursts in the door. The portrail of Van Blundht pretending to be Mulder is brillantly done by David Duchovny in one of his best episodes yet.

Just a little note: The actress who played Amanda Nelligan was the voice of the pig 'Babe'.

Nelligan: "368. I should break 400 by Memorial Day."
Scully: "Okay, thank you."

Mulder: "I have a theory. Want to hear it?"
Scully: "Van Blundht somehow physically transformed into his capture then walked out the door, leaving no one the wiser."
Mulder: "Scully, should we be picking out china patterns, or what?"

Mulder: "So, what killed Eddie the Monkey Man?"

Fake Mulder: "That's official F.B.I. business."

Scully: "Now you think there's no X-File here?"
Fake Mulder confused: "Ahh...no."

Skinner: "You spelt Federal Bureau of Investigation wrong."
Fake Mulder: "It's a typo."
Skinner: "Twice."

Fake Mulder: "(Looking around Mulder's office) Fox? Good night. This is where my tax dollars go? Where do I live? (At Mulder's apartment) Where the hell do I sleep? (Listens to messages) Geeks for friends. (Looks in mirror) FBI. F...B...I. FBI. You looking at me? There ain't nobody else here, you must be looking at me. Want a piece of this?"

Fake Mulder about Mulder: "Damn good looking man."

Fake Mulder: "We never really talk much, do we?"
Scully: "You mean really talk? No, no we don't, Mulder."
Fake Mulder: "So what's stopping us?"....
Scully: "Now I'm seeing a whole new side of you, Mulder."

Scully: "I like it."

Van Blundht to Mulder: "I think it's funny. I was born a loser, but you're one by choice."
Scully: "I don't imagine you need to be told this, but you're not a loser."
Mulder: "Yeah, but I'm no Eddie Van Blundht either, am I?"
