"Disturbing. Corporate soap opera pap. I can see those execs now. We need some sex, a romantic angle in this movie. Forget natural character or story development. Forget the unique and interesting platonic relationship that Mulder and Scully had, among the few attractive people on television who don't have to resort to the lowest common denominator (i.e. sex) for ratings. The first thing that comes out of every dim wits mouth who watches the show is..hey this F.B.I. chick is hot, do these two get it on...huh..duh..Let's hope I'm wrong and they don't go down that route. Carter seems to have his integrity intact in recent interviews. Let's see if he throws it out the window in the movie. If he does we might as well make Batman roll Robin, Sherlock slam Holmes, and the Lone Ranger taste Tonto's teepee while were at it. Why is it that just because the two characters are male and female, they have to be lovers? It's dull. One of my favorite things about the show is this interesting and pure mutual respect thing they have going. It is unique. If they have sex, all of that will become common place crap, it doesn't matter how it's done, or how good the characters are, the basic idea of the two main male and female characters being young attractive lovers has been done so many times in the movies it's probably been done literally billions of times. Why can't they save that for romance films which work fine at what they do and offer something different with the X-Files? Something more cerebral, more in keeping with the open ended unresolved nature of the show? Maybe they can, but I didn't like what was implied in this episode. It seemed forced and unnatural. To have Mulder and Scully defining exact parameters for their relationship is just something you should not have them doing in a show of constant questioning mystery. Bad ending folks. Boring. Unimaginative. Really silly writing + a below average story. Corporate coersion lingers in the air. Trust no one, you are entering the land of the ultimate conspiracy...Hollywood!!! Doesn't look good for the Future."

"I put off submiting this survey. First, I was going to watch the tape of Sunday's episode. I read a few postings on the Fox message board and Talk City hoping to clear my head of some of the confusion. Finally, I decided I'll go with my first reaction...AGHhhh!! I usually give episodes a ten, becuase I just love them all. But this one...well, I still loved it, but it didn't answer one thing, it only created a lot more questions. After I calmed down, I realized that's always how 'The X-Files' season fenale is. Then we wait all summer and part of the fall to find out that nothing in the season finale was not as it seemed to be...that it was all an illusion. I'm not counting on the movie to clear anything up. If it does, great, but I'm not counting on it. From what I read on the various postings, people are getting so hyped up over every tiny thing. These Tea death brigades and Mimi death brigades, it made me dread submiting my survey. I have faith in Chris Carter and the fantastic crew to keep doing the fabulous work they always have. I know this episode accomplished what it was supposed to do, keep us interested until the first show next season. I just needed a couple answers to keep me satisfied until next season. Also, CSM to Spender: 'I am your father' is NOT enough. I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait."

"I can't say this was as great as a cliff hanger as it was last year, but the prospect of having a movie makes it as good or almost better. The plot was interesting, I've always been intrigued by the missing link factor. I think they left too much unexplained though. Obviously this is X-Files, but I think it would have been a better episode if they had showed what happened the the kid, and Diana. Not that I care really. I'm sort of ashamed to say it, but I cheered when she was shot, I didn't like the second I heard about her. No matter, she's as good as dead. Now I know all of you noticed the things Mulder and Scully were wearing were the same ones in the movie. I counted one suit for each of them and in the end when they were looking at the office they were wearing the same things they will when the infamous "kiss happens". Just have to say, did you people see the room they were in for that scene? Must be an implant. Certainly not for real. The burning of the office was great. It symbolized them leaving Cananda I bet. DD did great acting, the look of absolute shock on his face was great. I thought GA could have done better though, I'm not complaing mind you, it was a great episode and I really cannot wait for the movie. It'll be a long 33 days"

"The Beginning and The End. To me, that was what this episode was all about. From the beginning of Skinner nosing through Mulder's things, and memories of early cases, to the end of the burning of the files, this episode was about coming full circle. It was excellent, and I don't expect but DEMAND to see Emmy nominations for best direction, score, and acting for both of our leads."

"This episode moved me to tears! The setup with CSM and Spender was awesome, sort of like a 'Star Wars' thing. It totally bit when Mulder's office was set on fire. Lots of questions are to be asked, and hopefully the movie will answer them."

"It's hard to believe what just happened! It really gets you in the mood for the movie. It's weird considering what the X files used to be starting off 5 years ago and what it is now."
