Thanks for the Memories, Mitch
You gave so much of yourself to your portrayal of Matt
Harmon on Port Charles.
You showed us that life is defined not by limitations but by possibilities.
We are grateful, and give you sincere thanks from our hearts.
We will miss you and Matt so very much, but we know that you must use your
creativity and talent in diverse ways in order to grow to your full potential -
and we know that this means that we will have to follow separate paths for a while.
But, we hope that this interlude will be short and that we'll see you again soon.
Don't stay away too long, Mitch.
We ask the Great Spirit to bestow blessings on your new pursuits and on your life.
We wish you the very best - we wish you happiness - we wish you love.

- Dear Mitch, I would like to thank you on behalf of myself, personally, my entire
family and specifically of my father Dr. Daniel Graupe for your eagerness to make people
aware of his lifelong work in the form of the Parastep-I FES system. It was a great honor
to see something that I have spent my entire life watching grow into a reality be shown in
such a positive light and on such a large scale. Thank you. We wish you best of luck in
your future plans. Oren Graupe

- Mitch, I began watching Port Charles for 2 reasons, it was a new show that
looked promising and because of you. I have continued to watch for the past three years
hoping that you would finally get a storyline worthy of your acting ablilites (the Mancusi
storyline was excellent). Now, you're leaving, I wish you luck and happiness where ever
life takes you (and hopefully that will be back to the screen, large or small!) Maureen

- What do you mean you're leaving PC?? Don't you know how much I'll miss you??
Matt was my first - and no doubt my last soap opera love. He made me laugh - and cry - and
inspired me to be more than I am. I want to thank you for this great gift you gave me and
others by your example of living, and by the sharing of your talent with us.
I
know that the time is right for you to go on to something more fulfilling, and I have no
doubt that you will be a success in anything you decide to do.
You know that you will always have my best wishes, my love, and a big piece of
my heart. Don't be gone too long now - I'm not getting any younger. (Hugs)

decided that it would be in the best interest of your future acting career to do so. I
must respect that, but there will be a big hole in Port Charles after you leave. They
won't be able to fill your space. You are one heck of an actor and person. God bless you
and here's hoping that we see you soon in your next endeavor. Thanks for the memories and
good times. Sincerely, Tom Preslar (TOM P) Mechanicsville, MD

- I'm sorry to see you go. I actually believed TPTB would cancel the character of
Matt first, because they obviously have no appreciation of him and his contribution to the
cast. You weren't given the chance in any long-range storylines from the beginning. With
the departure of Ellen, I figured it was only a matter of time. While PC has improved
tremendously since the new regime, there's still so much it can do. Nothing but success in
your future.

- Mitch, I started watching PC 3 years ago when all the interns were fresh new
faces. I really miss those days. I loved the strength of your character and the
spirituality you brought to the cast. I am guessing this was something you brought to the
character from deep inside yourself. You have enlightened me about people who have a
different ability and because of that I look at all people in a different light. I hope
that isn't too mushy, but I mean it. I also want to thank you for giving one of my best
friends in the whole world a night she'll never forget. Right Barb? Hopefully I will get
the same pleasure of seeing you perform on stage someday, but until then look towards the
sun and reach for the heavens. Peace and Love, Alayna

on Port Charles. Matt and Ellen were my favorite part of Port Charles. I was still holding
out hope for Ellen's return. However, I've become more of a "Mitch fan" than a
"Matt fan." They've turned Matt into a background character, and you deserve
much more than that. So, I wish you well in persuing your dreams. I just hope we'll get to

being physically challenged is not the end of the world. The zest, confidence, and reality

- Dear Mitch, Hi! Thank you for fighting to bring a full life to both Byron and
Matt and allowing the viewers (and the writers and producers) to see two well rounded
individuals, a lawyer and a doctor, who happen to use a wheelchair to get across the room.
While I wanted to see Matt and Ellen explore marriage and the realities of fatherhood with
a SCI, I'm sure you will have future opportunities to educate through another character.
Thank you for sharing yourself through "Courting Darkness", your writing, and
your interviews. Thank you for the blessing that SOWOHO has been for so many people whose
lives have been profoundly changed because of your caring and generosity.
And on a personal note, I would like to thank you for being a kind and caring role model
for Roberto, Ian, Victor, and Vic. Vic is playing basketball at recess because he watched
you play tennis (as Byron). Ian is dreaming of the day when he "can wear short shorts
like Mitch does." Roberto flipped his chair doing wheelies in the hall last week!
(I'm not blaming you! He watched you do them, however, Danny and James taught him how!)
And they are all waiting with some patience for April 18 when they get to see you walk,
finally! Take very good care of yourself and know that our thoughts and prayers go with
you. Very sincerely, Pat

haven't used your talent enough on the show. I understand why you want to move on. I
started watching Port Charles in 1997, and it was a blessing to have such a unique person

clear that you are a very intelligent and talented person, and you deserve much better in

- Hi Mitch, Thank you for introducing Dr. Matt Harmon to the world of daytime tv.
It was a refreshing character and I enjoyed your performance very much. I admire your
decision to leave the show for greener pastures. Matt was my favorite character and you
and Debbi Morgan rocked as Matt & Ellen. They will always be a super couple in my
book. I hope you bring your one man play Courting Darkness to NYC someday and perform it
on or off Broadway. We do have small theatres in NJ as well if you prefer a more intimate
setting. PC's loss is the world's gain. Good luck Mitch. You have no where to go but up.
I'll miss you.

- Dear Mr. Longley, I am sorry to hear that you are leaving PORT CHARLES. Your
character, Dr. Matt Harmon, has been an inspiration for many people with disabilities and
taught non-disabled persons to treat EVERYONE with dignity and respect.
I will miss Matt very much. He was strong, charming, had a wonderful sense of humor, and I
have to say (no offense to the other actors) the SEXIEST character on the show!! I really
liked the romance of Matt and Ellen. I have only two words to say about the actresses who
worked with you--LUCKY GIRLS!!!
I thought that the current storyline with the ParaStep-I System stimulator was a wonderful
addition to your character. I will miss the times when Matt put that jerk Dr. Boardman in
his place. Matt proves that you don't have to have legs to be a good doctor--all you need
is intelligence, a heart, courage, and compassion and respect for patients and co-workers.
Matt had that tenfold.
I wish you luck in all your future projects in acting and in life. You have a lot to offer
and I hope I will get a chance to see you on the TV screen (or the movie screen) very
soon. Yours truly, Linda D. Alexander

they only put you on once a month, if you were on that many times at all. As I said you
will be truely missed. The show will not be the same without you. If they cancel the show
and the ratings go down, I am blaming that on your departure. TPTB did not know what a
great thing that they had in you. You and your talents were really wasted. I wish you the
best in whatever you do. So here is to hoping that I will see you again on tv, and that
with the show that you do go on you have at least a fifteen year affair with them.

as the show progressed and Matt's relationship with Ellen intensified I became hooked.
When they finally made Matt & Ellen a couple I for one was a happy camper because A)
you and Debbie Morgan rocked! B ) that meant more screen time for me to appreciate what a

- Mitch; I got hooked on PC and Matt several years ago. In the last few weeks, I
had not seen PC everyday, but did see the shows with the ParaStep story line and before
that the few with the sinister character stalking Matt. My heart alternately rose and fell
with the anticipation of the progression of the story line. Was this the beginning of a
continued story line? Or the beginning of the end? My worst fear has been realized. After
seeing the Matt character get shuffled more and more to the back of the line, I do not
blame you one bit for departing to better pastures and parts. I hope that soon someone
with foresight and creativity find you and give you the major role that you so richly
deserve!

were finally taking a long overdue step in the right direction with the inclusion of a key
player who was a PWD. I began watching with the 2-hour opener and never missed taping an

- Dear Mitch, I can't find the words to fully express how much I enjoyed and
appreciated your acting on "Port Charles." Furthermore, I cannot convey my
sadness at the loss of both Dr. Matt Harmon and you from the show. You added grace, humor,
sensitivity, joy, honesty, interest, and numerous other qualities to the show. Your
portrayal of a character with a disability was so well done and had such dignity. I
believe that you and your character introduced so many viewers to a little of what life is
like for a physically disabled person. I wonder how many people, thanks to your recent
storyline, have now heard of the Parastep system? How exciting it was for all of us to see
you use the device! I only wish I had been able to see more of you and the equipment.
I am among the many viewers who will greatly miss you and Matt on "Port
Charles." As I said earlier, I do not really know what to say; I have continually put
off writing these comments with the hope that something appropriate would come to me. I
was not familiar with your acting prior to "Port Charles." I always loved
watching you and your character on the show, even when I did not always like the story
line. A smile would always come across my face whenever I saw you on the screen. Not only
did I love your acting; I also appreciated the things I learned about you personally, such

you gave of yourself in your time on Port Charles. It is the rare actor that can not only
make a person feel you also made me think. To me that is the power of one truly
talented. My only regret is that your time on my screen was too little. Your presence lit
up PC with charm and grace, and you shall be missed. I can honestly steal this quote
If I could reach up and hold a star for every time
you've made me smile, the entire evening sky
would be in the palm of my hand.
Your fan Sara Laine
