Max is the son of Goofy. He feels that his heritage is to become just like his father, which scares him to death (especially the laugh). He really likes Roxanne, and asks her out to watch a concert on TV, but when he gets home, he finds that his father has packed the car for a two week fishing trip halfway across the country. Max has no choice but to cancel the date, but when he does, he fears that his excuse is too weak and tells Roxanne that he is really going to the concert itself and will be performing onstage as well. Max struggles with his lie and with his father through the trip. When Max tells the truth to his father, they go to the concert and end up on television. When they return to their home, Max tells Roxanne the truth, and she tells him that she would have liked him anyway if he had told the truth from the begining. She then says the reason she liked him was because of the laugh (a-hyuck a-hyuck).

Miscellaneous:
This was the second feature by Disney based on a television cartoon (the
first was DuckTales: Treasure of the Lost Lamp). A Goofy Movie was
based on Goof Troop, which placed Goofy and his young son Max next door
to famous Disney nemesis Pete and his family. A Goofy Movie takes
place a few years later; Max is older and Goofy seems to have a regular
job (also, Pete is not working at the car lot he owned in the series).
A sequel is
in the works. It is tentatively titled Another Goofy Movie.
MPAA Rating:
G contains
nothing that would offend anyone (but don't hold me to it).
My Rating:
Why aren't more
films like this? It is a fun ride through what a relationship with
a Disney character would be like. Just imagine how you would feel
if your father was really Goofy (no parental jokes, please). It is
a good story and a really fun time had by all.
