Synopsis:
    Alien ships appear over world capitals/large cities without warning.  They then destroy each city in an effort to deplete the earth of its resources.  However, America celebrates the Fourth of July by kicking some alien butt and taking the world back.

    There are rumors that a sequel is in the works.  Emmerich and Devlin have said that they did not plan a second, but it looks like it may become reality.  Possible plotlines involve how the world cleans up the mess or another invasion.

    PG-13 for strong language and some violence

My Rating:
    Want to have a movie where even though you already know what's going to happen, you can still enjoy it?  This can fall in that category.  It has fun and action, and a lot of things that go boom.
    The Widescreen version includes a featurette on the making of the film, as well as the theatrical trailer.
