Welcome to the Dark Angel News section, where you can find updates on the latest about what's out and/or coming in the realm of Dark Angel!
***Dark Angel 16 is out! ^_^ Now we're on a storyline about Leen-sama going to get the Orb of Gold! Ask nicely of your comic shop, and you should be able to obtain back issues, too, should you need them. If not, try www.animenation.com, or any similar online shop.
***Seems there is only 30 or so issues of Dark Angel, and it ends on a cliff-hanger, but no fear, word has it that DA: Phoenix Resurrection will hopefully end it all. Or maybe Asamiya-sama will go back...? No one knows yet! Just hang in there!
***D Boy to produce Dark Angel action figures!!! Yes, 4 figures, Leen, Dark, and two others (I have the info in my Yahoo! Club Dark Angel Haven... I just can't access it while working on this... but my club is worth a peek. We're COOL! LOL!) When I find out a release date, you'll be sure to hear it here!
***Dark Angel: Phoenix Resurrection has been found! It seems things have caused unexpected delays, as this is the first for them, making a comic for the U.S. from Japan. It will be out soon, and everything is back on schedule. Issue #2 will ship in July. Check http://www.studiotronjapan.com and its Forum for more info straight from the guys! Thank you Fanboy and CB Cebulski!!
***Dark Angel has now hit Graphic Novel form!!! The first graphic novel, entitled Dark Angel: The Path to Destiny collects issues #1-5, as well as something called Dark Angel: The Beginning, which was the very first piece of Dark Angel release, printed in Japan's New Type Magazine "back when Silent Möbius series began," to quote Asamiya-sama in the intro to this special addition. Trust me, this is a must have for you fans! Also, it remains in standard comic size preserving the art perfectly. Also there is a funny manga afterward of about 2-3 pages. Also due to release is a HARDCOVER version of this signed by Asamiya-sama limited to 500 pieces. I put one on order through my local shop...hope I got one!
***In Animerica Vol. 8, # 3, there is an interview with Kia Asamiya. The website for the mag is www.animerica-mag.com!
***Remember me mentioning Dark Angel: Phoenix Resurrection to you? Well, here it is! (Look left, silly!) ^_^ Isn't this thing awesome?! Apparently it ships with TWO different covers, so, well, um, I don't know what the other looks like, but I think this one is one. I HOPE to get both covers. Both are done by Asamiya-sama. Color is done by Jonathan D. Smith, colorist of Top Cow on Fathom and Witchblade! The man was hand-picked by Asamiya-sama, so he must be good! This is to be the first FULL COLOR manga in TEN YEARS! Go Asamiya-sama! Its a continuation of the Dark Angel storyline, and will include last names! Characters have been redesigned (by Asamiya-sama, I presume) and it should clarify some details of their past. It is released in May, and comes out every month thereafter. ^_^
***Also, apparently there are two T-shirts out for Dark Angel. I have the second one on order, but have no clue on the first one. I'll scan the second one when it comes in. As said in Previews Vol. X, No. 3: "A two-side 100% cotton heavyweight T-shirt featuring full-color artwork from Kia Asamiya's manga series, Dark Angel. The front bears the Dark Angel territory symbols in a diamond formation with Japanese kanji symbols designating each land. The back features an image of the four sexy female companions from each land, Kyo, Bee, Setsuka, and Shiki." Well....when we find out who the last two are, well be fine! ^_^ Awesome looking t-shirt! ***On the first shirt: I found a place to order it. It too is two-sided, and the back is in color showing a portrait of Kyo and Dark, and their silhouette against a setting or rising sun. the website is http://www.paradigm-ent.com.
***About the Kia Asamiya sketchbooks. So far, there are two (one's coming in June, I think). I have NO clue about the first one, but the second one is called Sword Strokes. It is on the Dark Angel manga. The whole thing behind the sketchbooks is they're to help teach and improve manga techniques, and show the Asamiya-sama style! ^_^ C'ya! ^-^
