Amphoe Ao Luk Glimpse into ancien way of life through cave arts The wealth of marine resources have lured people to settle here since prehistoric period, as revealed by the many colored cave paintings spreading through out the area. The people in Laem Sak today, mostly Muslim, continue their lifestyles as small and medium-scaled fishermen. Yet visitors can easilly rent local fishing boats at Laem Sak pier to visit many painted caves in this area, which is part of Tanboke Koranee National Park. Amphoe Klong Thom Treasures of Culture and the Wild The plain area next to the sea is fertile agricul tural land, which canals and brooks also link it to important ports on the eastern coast. Such geo-graphical feature has encouraged people to settle down here for generations, the historical fact revealed in the archeological site of Kuan Lud Pat Community literally meaning high plain with many beads. Historical findings here, including gold Roman coins, multi-colors beads, Carnelian stone depicting Greek Goddess of Good Fortune, New and Old Stone Age tools, confirm the contact between the people here and those of world’s ancient civilizations. These historical artifacts have been kept for educational pruposes at Khlong Thom Local Museum by Phra Kroo Arthornsungvorakit, the Abbot of Wat Khlong Thom. Khao Phanom Bencha National Park Krabi’s major source of Nourishment Amphoe Khao Phanom Khao Phanom Bencha, the highest peak in Krebi, is the head watershed of many rivers and creeks. Natives call it Khao Nom (milk mountain), regarding it as mother who nourishes her children with abundant food. Khao Phanom Bencha National Park covers 31,325 rai in the Amphhoe of Ao Luk, Phanom and Muang. The park, mostly characterizing as tropial rain forest, hosts many important timber trees such as Hopea odorata, Dipterocarpr sp, dagerstruemia sp.,oak and Intsia palembanica. Thanks to abundant water and food resources, animals roam happily here, mostly mountain animals including tapir and Panther.Amphoe Muang Krabi Boekfa Andaman To Diverse Tourist Activities Downtown Krabi is located at the month of Krabi River, where it flows into Andaman Sea. To the east are Krabi Yai river and Khao Khanap Nam, the latter of which has become its provincial landmark. Amphoe Muang boasts fertile mangrove forest and abundant fist resources. Fishermen’s boats and commuting boats adapted from local fishing boats disembark at the pier in front of downtown Krabi.Dawn’s first light greets Krabi locals as they exercise in the parks. The watershed in Lanta Range at the island center feeds water to these mostly limestone islands. Many types of forests can be found in these islands. Casuarina, Tulip tree, and Cycas, for instance, adorn Mangrove forests, Red Dracaena Euphorbia, Dracaena pile up in less dense forests on limestone mountains. Rain forest disperse in the southern part of Ko Lanta Yai, on Lanta Range and on Ko Ngai. Praire spreads on Ko Ha’s mountains, the major varieties of grasses being Imperata grass and Lygoclium.
