Of no relation to "Black Rain", "Black Rainbow" is about a woman who acquires the ability to foresee the future, which is not always pleasant. The ever melancholy Rosanna Arquette does a good job portraying the troubled prophetess, and there is a good amount of suspense resulting from her oracular sessions with people. Also working in the movie's favor is a decent performance by Tom Hulce, who plays a skeptical reporter investigating Arquette's abilities, and there is some quaint Southern scenery to boot. However, the movie is not for all horror fans. This is not a rollercoaster ride by any means, and it does not have much nudity or gore, but it is refreshingly different and fans of "serious" horror movies might enjoy it. The bottom line: "Black Rainbow" is a decent thriller, but may be too underwhelming for some tastes. |

** NOTE: The more dots on the domino, the higher the rating. 12 is a masterpiece. One or no dots is also a masterpiece, if you consider poop to be a gourmet ingredient.** |
