Well, they've done it again. They've remade "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" twice. The first remake with Donald Sutherland and Leonard Nimoy is excellent, but this second version falls flat largely because of the uninteresting characters and ho-hum acting. Except for Gabrielle Anwar making the most of her role, no one in the cast performs particularly well. Most of the actors have done noticably better jobs in other films. R. Lee Ermey, for example, steals the show in "Full Metal Jacket" yet gives a forgettable performance in "Body Snatchers." The worm-like appendages of the aliens creeping onto sleeping bodies make some good scenes, but overall this movie is really nothing *special.* Watch the 1978 version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" instead. |
