"The Dentist II"--a direct-to-video starring Corbin Bernsen. Those two facts alone beg the question, "Is it worth watching all the way through?" Perhaps surprisingly enough, yes! Although the plot is simplistic and predictable, this is a particularly gory horror flick with some vivid hallucination sequences. The graphic close-ups of the teeth being jiggled violently, yanked out, or drilled to the nerves and the anesthetic needle going deep into the jaw are certainly memorable. The movie is a bit uneven and slow in some parts, mostly before the second half. However, the second half manages to be quite decent overall. Bernsen is more than a little over-the-top as the psychotic dentist, but that actually works to his advantage at times in the movie, especially at the end when he resembles another horror movie villain. Which villain might that be? See for yourself! |

** NOTE: The more dots, the better it is. 11 or 12 dots indicates a masterpiece worth "throwing into the VCR" while no dots means it's a "disasterpiece" worth "throwing against the wall." ** |
