Like the Child's Play series, "Dolls" is about killer...drum roll please...dolls. There is even the plot of a child trying to convince the grown-ups that the toys are alive with homicidal tendencies. Despite the similarities, this movie is not a rip-off of "Child's Play." For instance, Chucky is a doll possessed by a serial killer while the dolls here are humans who literally transformed into toys! Some nifty special effects carry this movie, but it would be more enjoyable if the characters aren't so annoying. Aside from the basically normal little girl, there is an infantile man, an ice-bitch for a mother, a couple of unscrupluous punks, and a creepy elderly couple. Should anyone care if some of these characters are caught by murderous marionettes? Overall, "Dolls" is an okay horror flick about killer toys, but it could be much better if the victims are more likable people. |

OVERALL RATING
** NOTE: The more dots on the domino, the better the movie. 11 or 12 dots is top-notch entertainment while one or no dots signifies the bottom-notch variety that are fun to watch only if you put the tape in the oven set at around 350 degrees. ** |
