Just when it looks like Pinhead is gone for good, he's back again, though only for a couple minutes. Other than the sporadic presence of Cenobites, this hardly seems like a Hellraiser movie. Instead, this direct-to-video is more like a film-noir crime drama than anything else. The protagonist is a dirty detective who is about to be in for a hellacious experience, which sounds promising enough since it works so well in "Angel Heart". Unfortunately, the star power from "Angel Heart" is not present here, and this cop is just a little too dirty, a little too antiheroic for you to care about his fate. It's hard to identity with an abusive policeman who blackmails, cheats and beats on people, and the overacting from this guy doesn't help much either. However, the visuals are very good for a direct-to-video, and the occasional moments with Pinhead and the Cenobites are welcome ones. The movie also scores points for a neat ending, which won't be discussed here. The bottom line: "Hellraiser: Inferno" is about average overall. Don't expect to see much of Pinhead this time though. |

** NOTE: The more dots on the domino, the better the movie. 12 dots means it's the best of the best while zero dots means it's the worst of the worst. ** |
