Who would have guessed that the box to "The Last Slumber Party" contained a block of cheese from 1987? As you might have guessed, it is a slasher flick, and a low-budget lunatic, armed with an "extremely sharp implement of an undetermined nature", is out to slice some low-budget ladies at their last slumber party. Is the killer scary? No, funny! It's hard not to laugh as he stalks teens with those comically widened eyes of his! He has it pretty easy too. Despite being in plain view much of the time, he somehow manages to remain unnoticed. Furthermore, the victims stay perfectly still while he attacks them. No fight or flight there. Meanwhile, the scenes are overpowered by cheezy music from keyboards needing new batteries. The showdown between the killer and one of the girls is a real gem. One easy stab and it's over?! Astounding. Perhaps even more astounding is the fact that there is hardly any nudity, especially for a slumber party slasher. The bottom line: Highly recommended if you want to make fun of a movie with some friends (or write a bad movie review); otherwise, let "The Last Slumber Party" sleep on the video store shelves. |
