PARTY CRASHER: MY BLOODY BIRTHDAY

From the title, you might assume that the villain hangs out at parties uninvited and leaves a trail of death at each one, but this "party crasher" only attends one party which lasts about 15 minutes into the movie. And he is the host, no less! Believe me, I haven't spoiled any surprises since the movie reveals the killer's identity right off the bat and he decimates the party in a matter of minutes. There isn't a lot of gore, and the killer is rather inept, though the unstable camerawork and the slow-motion admittedly add a slight sense of realism. "Party Crasher" provides a very uneven viewing experience, and most of the horror happens near the beginning and the end, with a long fallow period in between where the killer is locked up in a mental ward ravenously devouring eight Big Mac's while cranky Nurse Patchett is administering drugs with "no harmful side effects". By the way, the killer has somehow acquired ESP and telepathy, but those psychic powers are soon forgotten in the script. Not much is explained, and the movie adds to the confusion with speculation of a second "party crasher"...

The bottom line: "Party Crasher: My Bloody Birthday" is bad, but it's still watchable thanks to its cheezy energy.

QUARTER BY QUARTER ANALYSIS OF MOVIE

OVERALL RATING

3 out of 12

** NOTE: The more dots on the domino, the better the movie. 11 or 12 dots is top-notch entertainment while one or no dots signifies the bottom-notch variety that may be slightly more amusing than watching the needles move on the gas meter. **
