The title "Q" stands for Queztelcoatl, the Aztec serpent god, but it can also stand for quirky and quaint, which are good adjectives for this movie. It is filmed in the tradition of old-fashioned megamonster movies like "King Kong" and "Godzilla" since Queztelcoatl is also a giant monster terrorizing the city. Unlike King Kong and Godzilla, Q behaves like a stealthy serial killer and prefers to kill her victims one at a time when nobody is really watching. The Q killings are pretty gruesome too, and director Larry Cohen inserts some dark humor as comic relief. While the police ponder how one man has been decapitated, one of them says, "Maybe his head just came loose and fell off." Ha! To make the plot more distinctive, someone in the city is flaying people, and the results are not for the squeamish. To top that, "Q" has a captivating cast, which includes David Carradine and Michael Moriarty. Overall, An above-average horror movie, particularly recommended "Q" to gorehounds and fans of big-monster movies like "Godzilla" and "King Kong." |

** NOTE: The more dots on the domino, the higher the rating. 11 or 12 dots points to an essential item in a horror video collection. Even the dung beetles would be repelled by a movie rated with one or no dots. ** |
