RABID

That David Cronenberg sure knows how to make a sci-fi/horror movie crawl under your skin, even if he takes his sweet time doing so. "Rabid" is not a fast-paced movie, and there are plenty of slow areas here and there. However, the surprises are evenly distributed throughout the movie, and they're more than nasty enough to make the viewing experience worthwhile. Such exotic, gory treats include rectangular slices of skin being peeled back and a disgusting vampiric appendage sprouting out of former porn-star Marilyn Chambers (who not only looks good but acts amazingly well for someone involved in porno flicks). The other thing that makes Cronenberg films rewarding is the impressively wicked endings, and this one follows suit with a most unceremonious death (you'll have to see it for yourself).

The bottom line: "Rabid" is certainly not an easy movie to watch, but it has plenty to satisfy most horror fans. Fairly good overall.

8 out of 12

**NOTE: The more dots on the domino, the higher the rating. 12 dots means the movie is "da bomb" while no dots indicates it's just a plain old bomb to be avoided at all costs.**
