SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT PART II

"Silent Night, Deadly Night Part II" might very well hold the record for the world's longest flashback taken from another movie. Horror sequels generally spend no more than five minutes summarizing what happened in the previous movies, but this one takes well over 30 minutes! Indeed, only 60% of this is new footage, and almost all of the first half consists of recycled scenes from the first Silent Night, Deadly Night movie. The new stuff is amusing only because the narrating and the acting is so over-the-top. It's almost impossible not to chuckle when the killer--occasionally clad in a Santa outfit--growls "Naughty!" and "Punish!" The main character, who happens to be both the protagonist and the villain, looks vaguely like Frank Whaley on steroids and has a real blast shooting people at random on the street. Many of his victims are at least as obnoxious or sadistic as he is, and thus you are not likely to experience pity when he thins out their numbers. The bottom line: "Silent Night, Deadly Night Part II" is rather mediocre and recommended only if you can't get enough movies with hammy acting and serial killers dressed up like Santa Claus.
