1. Scarlett runs off after the Tarleton Twins tell her that Ashley and Melanie are to be engaged. And Mammy is yelling out the window to Scarlett, saying that she should have invited the boys to dinner. But Scarlett just runs off to find her Pa. Scarlett waits until after the Twins have left and Mammy has gone upstairs to get her a shawl to run find her Pa.
2. While at the Wilkes Barbecue, Scarlett sees Rhett Butler and says to Cathleen Calvert that she feels like he knows what she looks like without her shimmy. Scarlett thinks to herself that he seems to know what she looks like without her shimmy.
3. India Wilkes is the one that is suppose to marry Charles Hamilton, Melanie's brother. Honey Wilkes is the one that is suppose to marry Charles Hamilton.
4. It doesn't mention anything about Stuart Tarleton liking anyone before he liked Scarlett. Stuart Tarleton and India Wilkes were probably going to be engaged until Scarlett came along and flirted with Stuart.
5. At the barbacue while the ladies are taking a nap and the men are gathered together talking about the war, Rhett tells the other gentleman that the South has hardly any factories to build guns and ammunition and that they will probably lose the war. While everyone is sitting in the yard after eating barbacue, the talk turns to war and this is when Rhett tells them about the South not having any factories.
6. Melanie and Ashley get married before Scarlett and Charles. Scarlett and Charles get married before Melanie and Ashley.
7. Leaves out the few days that Charles and Scarlett are together after being married. Tells of how Scarlett forbids Charles to sleep with her in her bed at first but then later she cries about losing Ashley and Charles comforts her thinking it is about him going off to war.
8. Leaves out the part where Scarlett has a baby. Scarlett is pregnant from Charles and has a son, Wade Hampton Hamilton.
9. Scarlett is bored and hates being a widow and her mother suggests that she go visit Melanie and Aunt Pittypat in Atlanta. Scarlett is bored and hates being a widow, so she and Wade go to Savannah and Charleston to visit relatives. They return early and her mother tells her that she should go visit Melanie and Aunt Pittypat in Atlanta.
10. At the Atlanta Bazaar, Melanie gives her wedding ring to the Cause before Scarlett does. At the Atlanta Bazaar, Scarlett gives her wedding ring to the Cause before Melanie does.
11. Mrs. Merriweather tells Aunt Pittypat that Melanie approved the girl auction. Melanie didn't know of the girl auction until Dr. Meade announced it, and she was as shocked as everyone else.
12. Prissy found Rhett in Belle Watling's whore house when looking for him after Melanie had her baby. Prissy found Rhett in a bar when looking for him after Melanie had her baby.
13. There is no mention of Will Benteen coming and helping at Tara. Will Benteen, a very sick soldier shows up and they nurse him back to health, and he stays and helps them at Tara. A lot of the weight is shifted from Scarlett's shoulders to Will's.
14. When Jonas Wilkerson and his wife Emmie Slatery ride up to offer to buy Tara, Gerald gets mad and rides off after them and tries to jump the fence and is thrown off and dies. Gerald doesn't die until after Scarlett has married Frank Kennedy and is pregnant with his child.
15. Doesn't mention that Suellen was to blame for Gerald's death. Suellen finds out that the government is paying for any damages done to homes that were Yankee sympathizers and did not offer any help to the Confederates. The O'Hara's could get $150,000 if Gerald takes the Oath of the United States. So Suellen tortures her Pa by reminding him of Ellen's death and how Ellen would hate that Pa is allowing them to be so poor. This makes Gerald cry like a baby. Suellen gets some liquor and gets Gerald very drunk and takes him to sign the oath, but she makes a mistake by mentioning that the Slattery's and the Macintoshes hve done the same and Gerald goes in an outrage. He yells and curses and says that Suellen is no daughter of his. He then gets a horse and goes riding off as fast as he can and at home he tries to jump the fence again but the horse stops and he goes over the fence and breaks his neck and dies.
16. Scarlett and Mammy both go calling on Rhett while he is in jail so Scarlett can ask about borrowing money, and Mammy is present when Scarlett tells Frank Kennedy the lie about Suellen being engaged to someone else. Although Mammy goes to Atlanta with Scarlett, Scarlett manages to go see Rhett alone, and on her way back to Aunt Pittypat's, she runs into Frank and proceeds to tell him the lie about Suellen.
17. Leaves out Scarlett's daughter with Frank Kennedy. Scarlett has a daughter, Ella Lorena, with Frank Kennedy.
