As she neared Yankee Stadium, she felt a sudden dread. She could not tell why, but as she looked at the round structure, she wondered if perhaps she had lost all common sense. Any crackpot could be awaiting her in there, and the parking lot was mysteriously empty for a game day. 'Well,' thought she, 'I'll never get anywhere sitting in my car, and she strode up to the gates.
"Can I help you, miss?" asked a harmless looking old man in the ticket booth. She showed him her tickets, which he examined carefully with a queer look upon his face. "I'm sorry miss, but there's no game here today." She felt a chill course through her. She asked if she might go in and take a look to see why the tickets had been sent her, and she was granted permission.
She wandered the now silent stadium, marvelling that indeed it could be filled with thousands of screaming fans while only a few men at a time were on the field in the defeaning roar. Examining the tickets, she found the seats which were assigned her. Nothing and no one at all. She felt as if she could cry. She had gone all that way and in the end, nothing was there. Who was this lunatic? Why was she the target? How much money would she have to spend to get to the bottom of this mystery!?
Finally, she wiped away her tears and stood up again. She gazed out over the field one last time, and made her way to the car. As she turned the key, she realized. Kansas was her destiny. She wasn't sure why, she didn't know where exactly, but she knew she had to get there. And fast!
