Robin Williams Biography
Robin Williams was born on July 21, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. Previous to going to Juilliard Acting Academy in New York, Robin studied political science. After Juilliard, Robin played in night clubs across the U.S., his raucous improvisations and stand up comedy routines similar to that of his idol, Jonathon Winters. Robin's first break came when he cameod as 'Mork' on "Happy Days", which led to his first TV show "Mork and Mindy"(1978). This comedy show led to legions of fans worldwide, but his first foray into the world of movies did not come until 1986, when Robin's first movie, "Popeye" was released. It was a dismal failure, but Robin was not discouraged, but continued with "Good Morning Vietnam"(1987) which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. Since then, Robin has made over 10 feature films, with these movies grossing well over $150 million dollars. He has been nominated for two Academy awards (Good Morning Vietnam and Dead Poets Society), has won several Golden Globe awards and three Grammy's for the audio recordings of "Jumangi", "Good Morning Vietnam" and "Live at the Met". In 1997, Robin Williams was voted the funniest man alive by Entertainment Weekly. Robin is married to Marcia Garces, and has three children, Zachery, Zelda, and Cody.
