Birthday cometh...

Sunday, March 19.

I am starting to scare myself. Another year of school ends in about a month or so. What have I learned? I have had a year's worth CRAMMED into my head. This is the good stuff that they've been keeping back from us for the past two years. Actual information that is pertinent to my future career.

Do I sound a bit bitter? A little bit-- I found the first two years here a bit tediously boring. Honestly, the program can be a whole lot better than it is right now. This four year program can be chopped down one year, EASILY. If they ever ask for graduate feedback, I can give them an ear-full!

Things to do: scan the pictures from PDW. Do a little laundry and post some new Cindy pictures! (Sorry to all the fans out there...)

Back home in Windsor...

Sunday, March 26.

I'm back home in Windsor for the weekend. It's nice to be gone from TO for a while-- clear up my head. Before leaving on Friday, I went out with a family friend for the afternoon. She showed us the CN Tower. The place is totally changed from the last time I went (about 10 years ago!). Then I went over to my aunt's place for supper. My brother hasn't seen my aunt in over 15 years. Trust me, it was an experience for me when I saw her for the first time back in October.

We left TO around 7:30. I drove all the way back-- had a blast driving the new Volvo. Saw a couple cops around but they were catching the real speeders. While taking a pit stop, an OPP patrolman came in. Seeing I had my Mondetta China t-shirt, he gave me a funny look. I said hi to him and he noticed the lack of Chinese accent and realized I was not an illegal alien.

Got into town rather late-- past 11pm. Didn't go much that night but did do a little websurfing... I got up early Saturday morning to get a lot of business to be taken care of. Got my driver's license renewed as well as got my passport photos taken. Guess I will be going abroad some time in the summer so a new passport is required since the old one is close to expiring. Before lunch, I went downtown to get my hair cut. It was starting to show signs of shagginess on the sides. As well, I had to get rid of the 'M-shape' that the Chinese barbers left on my head from the previous hair cut. As well, I went over to my summer place of employment to pay a courtesy visit. Will be starting their in June. Also figured out how the pay schedule is going to work out.

For lunch, the folks and I went out to the east end for some Arby's. Went over to an aunt's place to drop some stuff we got up in TO and pay a quick visit with my uncle as well. Went to the mall to return a shirt that was too big. Then I went to see Romeo Must Die, starring Jet Li. Let me say the movie was somewhat disappointing. I shouldn't expect that much from an action movie but I must say the plot was very weak. The odd fight scene was entertaining but not enough to sustain the movie. I checked my watch a couple of times--a good indication that my attention was not totally there.

Before going out for dinner, I washed the car. It rained on the way back home Friday night and the black car does not hide dirt very well. Dinner was great-- ate with family friends and had a good time. Tonight, I called up a couple of friends back up in TO to see how things are doing there. Then I went over to my friend, Mike's place to see how he was doing.

Before I go to bed, I have to write a couple of articles for the faculty newspaper. As a sports rep, I have to say what happened at the end of this semester and congratulate those who won awards. Will also try and write an article on the two movies I saw in the past couple of days: Romeo Must Die and High Fidelity.

Hail to the Chief...

Sunday, April 2nd.

Last week was a really busy time for me. Not only did I have to do all sorts of pharmacy-related school stuff, I had to prepare for Friday's order of business. I decided to be a little more politically involved-- ran for class president for next year. After class, we had class speeches and voting. I said my 3 minute speech and it was waiting time...

I found out later that afternoon from the CRO (chief returning officer) that I had defeated my opponent, this year's vice-president. I was glad that I won but saddened at the same time. The VP is a good friend of mine and there was nothing personal in this election. Basically it was a popularity contest this time around. (Not saying that she is unpopular but maybe there was a underlying class belief of a need of change.)

In the evening I was triple-booked. First order of business was the floor year-end party at the Peel Pub. There was a Raptors game on that evening and the place was packed! We missed our reservation by 10 minutes so we were relegated to sitting in various tables. Wasn't a problem-- we were starved! It was a good time-- I could only stay until 9:30 when I had to attend my next function.

June's houseparty is legendary in the faculty. The place was full of people. I managed to squeeze in and say hi to all the hostesses (June lives with 5 other university students.) I met two other people in pharmacy who I never met before (a couple of 2nd years...) And who said pharmacy was a small faculty? I also met someone who knew someone from my dark past... that was weird... I was only able to stay until 10:30-- had to get ready for the last event.

The last event of the evening was a pro-fac party at the Phoenix. Retro-Fridays are normally a good time with a good mix of tunes. If retro isn't your thing, they have a separate room where they play hardcore alternative / grunge music. There were hardly any pharmacy people in the room. Other than my troupe of pharmies, a fellow classmate went solo with his Thunder Bay friends. (Way to represent, Wrigley!)

I also had the great fortune into running into a high school friend. She's in 2nd year meds and the only times we run into each other is through these pro-fac parties. Coincidence? I think not! Basically we have nothing in common now that she is in bad terms with one of my best friends. It really shouldn't matter but you have to know the circumstances in their falling out to understand my dilemma.

For the weekend, I had to catch up on all the work that I have been slacking on all week. Luckily my kinetics problem set is now done. Now I am diligently working on my drug analysis lab report before I can officially begin studying for finals! What a pathetic life I lead now...

Things to do: I have to work on this webpage when I have an opportunity. If you want, you can check out the pharmacy class webpage to see what I'm doing in the world of pharmacy. To the Cindy fans out there, I don't have Paint Shop Pro installed on this computer so getting Cindy pix with thumbs is virtually impossible to do. Perhaps if I have time, I'll download the program and do it then. Until then, you'll have to be patient.
