June 99' May 99'
July 99'
As many of you know Disneyland just had it's 44th Birthday. This year they centered the birthday around the 4 Disneyland Mountains. For $8.97 you could buy a passport and get it stamped at each Mt. To me it didn't look like many people where buying them and it didn't look like many people where getting them stamped. But the most important part (At least I think) is that this is the first birthday since 95 that Disneyland has really made a big deal. Thanks to one of OPD's reader's (Karyn) we have pictures of the passports. Click Here To see them!!
In New Orleans Square Disneyland just opened up two new stores. The stores names are Port D' Orleans and La Mascarade. These stores offer a lot more special items. I think it is great Disneyland redid these two stores. This way it keeps Disneyland looking new and in 5 years they won't have to redo all the stores in New Orleans Square like they had to do with Tomorrowland.
I had a chance to vist the new Plaza Inn and may I say Disneyland did GREAT on this. I think Walt would be very proud and would love to vist and have some chicken or a nice cold Sprite. If you go let me suggest the Chicken and the Carrot Cake. And if you like Salads you will love the Cobb Salad. Once again this adds greatly to the whole Main Street feeling. I love the new Brickes on the side walk and the new Plaza Inn. Once again this is a great move by Disneyland because now they won't have to redo a Ton of stuff on Main Street in 10 years. All I can say is Way to Go Disneyland. (If you go as a group you may want to share a meal. The Carrot Cake can feed 4 people.)
Tarzan's Tree house is a great addition to Adventureland. It really add's to the whole Jungle adventure I think Walt wanted. I was very glad to hear that the attraction will be staying for years to come. The line is usally about 10 mins long and the line to meet Tarzan or Jane or Terk (or sometimes there all together) is at its shortest about 15 mins. Also you can see Tarzan and Jane at the end of Fantasmic on the Mark Twain (they are on the first floor of the Mark Twain.
From The Laughing Place:

Other News!!!:
Well as most of us know Plaza Inn has reopend a large amount of Toon Town has been Re-Painted. The all of the boats are returning (Except for the Mike Finn Keel Boats). Here is report from the LA Times about how Disneyland didn't really have any new "big" ride or show this year. " Rather than add major attractions, Disneyland this summer
opted for a general sprucing up, ranging from a $7-million
remodeling of the Plaza Inn restaurant on Main Street to a new
paint job for Monstro, the whale who swallows riders on the
Storybookland ride." I am glad Disneyland has done all of these upgrade things this year!!!
Tarzan is HERE:
Well let me just say im proud of Disney and Disneyland right now. Let me tell you why. Sure Im mad at Disneyland for VQ and other things right now. BUT... The Disneyland name toppled:
That's right, the giant Disneyland marquee is
down! I don't know if they're just altering the wording on it (i.e.- The
Disneyland Resort), or if a new sign (with place for DCA's name) is being
constructed.
Yesterday the whole sign was laying on the ground.
Other rumors say that a new sign might have a high resolution
screen (like many of the Las Vegas casino signs have now). Imagine seeing a
full color, full motion, Fantasmic commercial up there. Now that would be something. But I still will miss the old sign.
Tent's changing:
After a year of promising that 'the Fantasyland theater tent
will be rethemed to fit in with Fantasyland', something is being done. Sure,
it's only a blue tarp adorning the top peaks of the tent, but at least they're
trying something! Please note the picture to the right is not the new look for the tent. That is a Old Picture:)
