Dec. 29 1999 Read Eric's top 5 list for the best things that have happend this year to Disneyland. Fast Pass is up and running and some info on NEW YEARS EVE!!!! What rides will be open on New Years??? Find OUT!!!!
More on New Years Eve From the Orange County Register..... The Matterhorn will close at 11:45 p.m. Friday and reopen at
12:15 a.m. Saturday, park spokesman Tom Brocato said Tuesday.
Officials decided to suspend the bobsleds because of midnight
fireworks over the simulated Swiss peak.
Brocato said the Matterhorn is shut down whenever Disneyland
sets off fireworks, and the decision had nothing to do with Y2K
computer concerns. The bobsleds, which opened in 1959, are one
of Disneyland's oldest rides.
Most Disneyland attractions will be open through midnight, but the
park is not entirely free of Y2K worries.
Brocato said the 44-year-old Peter Pan ride in Fantasyland runs on
an elevator system and will be shut for 30 minutes starting at 11:45
p.m. as a "precaution."
The elevator inside Innoventions in Tomorrowland also will be
turned off, though a stairway between floors will remain open,
Brocato said.
Disneyland will be the only major area theme park with rides in
operation at midnight. Knott's Berry Farm will shut its attractions at
11:45 p.m. and reopen them Saturday morning. Universal Studios
will shut rides at 11:45 p.m. and reopen them after midnight.
Well this has been a long time in the making in fact a whole year!!! LOL But I have come up with my own personal top five list. If you have any comments on this please email me!!!
5. Tarzan's Tree House I picked this to be number five because really it was a good attraction. Not some Huge E-ticket ride but it was something we haven't seen come out of Disneyland for sometime. I mean think of the last "fun" walk through they have made??? And another great thing is that it is here to stay. As of right now Disenyland has no plans of ever taking it away!!!
4. The Disneyland Hotels new look. I was very happy about this. Over the past few years the Disenyland Hotel has lost its Magic although it was a great place to stay it didn't give you the WOW. But now with the New Neverland Pool and the new remote control boats that are themed to the Jungle Crusie the Hotel has regained all of it's Magic.
3. Main Street and the Plaza Inn. Main Street recived a major rehab. The side walks are once again made out of Bricks. And the Plaza Inn looks better then new.
2. The Park is Clean Again This one could be number one. As many of you know for the past few years Disenyland hasn't had that Better then new look. Toon Town was in bad need of paint. Many places around the park had trash and cried for paint. But then it happend Toon Town got a paint job along with other parts of the park and then Disneyland just seemed to get cleaner and CLEANER!!!!
1. (This is everything put together really) Cynthia Harriss The new President has really changed everything around. She is the main reason number 3 and 2 (on my list happend) after Paul Pre$$ler left many people still feared the worse. But to our surprise she has changed everything for the better!!!! She has brought a lot of magic back. She was one of the Key people in bring back the Canoes
This Holiday Season four rides have had Fast Pass on. And from what many readers have told me it is pretty nice. If you are only there for a day and want to hit all the rides and see the parade then Fast Pass is the answer!!! Another great thing about fast pass is it gives you more Cast Member interaction!
New Years Eve A while ago it was belived that all ride would shut down at 11:30P.M. But Disneyland is going to keep all rides open!!!! (except Peter Pan and the Matterhorn) So hey you could be on Space Mt. at the end of 1999 and the start of the year 2000. There is also to be a Wonderful firework show!!! They will have to stop people from coming into the park once it reaches maximum capacity. That has only happen 2 other times in Disneyland History a July 4th in the 80's and one of the last days of the MSEP!!!
