May 23rd 2000 ~ NEWSFLASH ~ This is a fast update about the Subs and Rocket Rods!!!

Rocket Rods and Subs

Last time we reported that the Subs may be coming back. But now I have talked to several friends in the Park and the Subs are not coming back!!! As I thought for them to come back it would cost millions to get it up and running.
and it looks like the Rocket Rods will stay. At this time they are talking about finding a company to pour a lot of money into it and really fix it up. And stop many of the problems this ride has had!
Not to long ago I talked about how by the 50th Tomorrowland would be great. Well if you think about it with the new Autopia opening, The fixes to the Rocket Rods (that may come) and who knows by 2005 maybe something in place of the Subs. I really believe the 50th will be the most magical year ever at Disneyland!!
Please read on below for a great update!!

May 20th 2000 ~Well it is offical we know the opening date of DCA. This date will go down in Disneyland History (but do you think it will be for good or bad?) We also now know the opening date for the Autopia!! And What is all the talk about Rocket Rods and Subs. *Plus* Don't go crazy yet but the MSEP may be coming back!!!
It's all in this update of OPD

DCA is just a short time away

Disneyland has announced the opening date for Disney's California Adventure. It will open on February 8 2001. The new Disney's Grand Californian Hotel will open on January 2 2001 and Downtown Disney (the large shopping and dining area) will open on January 12 2001. What does this all mean?? Well it means that we will see a lot more work being done on all of Disney's California Adventure (DCA), Disney's Grand Californian Hotel (GCH), and Downtown Disney (DD). More testing on all of the rides will start very soon. Already in the new park they have been testing most rides in Paradise Pier and the lagoon is now filled.

It's almost here

The Disneyland Autopia will reopen on June 29th 2000. They are going to have all new cars that look much better then the old ones. And no longer will the entire drive be on the "Freeway" but you will also go into a "Park" and "Off Road". I truely can't wait to see the new look of this classic Disneyland attraction.

Rocket Rods zipping away for good??

As much as I love the Rocket Rods they are costing Disneyland a lot of money, and are not really taking care of the numbers of people it should. So with those facts and a few Rumors (which us Disneyland Fans are so good at) the latest news is that Rocket Rods will be closing soon. Although I doubt that they could close them until early next year. Rumors say that they could close as soon as the Autopia opens up. But in the back of my mind I just don't see that happening.
I have heard that they are looking for someone to Sponsor the ride but that might not happen. And due to all of the Rumors or Rocket Rods closing the Submarines now may reopen. But this is just a rumor. The Subs would look like the old WDW subs but I just don't know about this. They would have to give a major DRY (in other words drain out the lagoon and fix everything) rehab for the subs to look good. So I don't see this happening but I would love to have them back.

MSEP

Don't want to throw more wood onto the fire. But I keep on hearing from people in the park that there is a chance that the MSEP will come back for next year. WDW is almost done with it and we do need a new Parade for next year so...... We will just have to see.....
Till next time

May 8th 2000 ~Well are we all Ready for May?? But that means that the Disneyland Summer Season is almost here. In this update Find out what will happen on Mother's Day. What is Up with the Disneyland Pacific Hotel.. or.. a... Paradise Pier Hotel... and sit back and get ready to hear some of the wonderful Stories from inside DCA!!!! It's all in this May 8th update.

Happy Mother's Day

Disneyland Park celebrates Mother's Day with a Latin twist. Join the fiesta on Sunday, May 14, in the Festival Arena for an afternoon of musical entertainment, an autograph session, and character fun hosted by Radio Disney DJ Ernie D. Performing throughout the day will be Hollywood Records artists Gipsyland, Nydia Rojas, and La Costumbre. Also featured will be music from Walt Disney Records' new release "La Vida Mickey," highlighted by a live performance by Myra. The Festival Arena will be open from 11 a.m.to 5 p.m. Feliz Dia de la Madre. It sounds like fun and I believe that the Hotels will also be holding special meals.

Paradise Pier Hotel

We have know for a while that the Disneyland Pacific Hotel would change there name to Paradise Pier Hotel (Since Paradise Pier is just across the Street) and this change should happen in June. As I understand they will be re-themeing the Hotel and the new logo looks very nice. But I do feel for the Imagineers who have to re-theme it that would be a hard job.

What is really going on in DCA???

As I understand DCA is really going to have a lot of Great stuff inside. The Hollywood District in DCA is wonderful. It will have more of a classic 30's and 40's look. So many OPD readers have worried about the 1990-2000 look many of us thought Hollywood would have. Soarin' Over California will be a totally new feel even the queue feels like an old time hangar. That will be a very neat part of the park. One thing that we are now seeing is that this park will not be California in the year 2000. You will go to Hollywood in the 40's, old time Hangars, and A Classic Water Front park in the early 1900.
To all of you who say that DCA won't have anything New look at the Animation Ride ( I hear it is going to be Wonderful), Soarin' Over California should be a ton of run and to everyone who says Grizzly Mt. has no theme.... A... look at the Mountain that is its Theme.
Till next time
