Dirty Dozen
Essentially in Dirty Dozen, Lee Marvin is unliked by superiors in the British Army during World War II. When they give him the assignment of raiding a resort for high-ranking German military men and kill as many as possible, they give him twelve military convicts to work with. Some of the more notable are Bronson, James Brown, Telly Savalas, and George Kennedy. First Marvin has to motivate these men to accept the mission. He gets permission from his superiors to offer the men serious consideration at lessening their sentences. He also makes them all accept or none. Enough are convinced that they make the others accept, and they're off to begin training. Marvin makes them build the guard's and his cabin first. That way they'll be motivated to hurry. Marvin is pleased with their progress, but is upset that they aren't funcitioning as a team. The next day, a rebelion is led by XXXX who refuses to use cold water to shave. He convinces them all to go along, and they insist on hot water. Marvin comes out and lets them know there will be no more shaving, and the time used previously for such activities will now be spent working thanks to xxxx. They're all disgusted with him for this, and after a while, they earn their title, "The Dirty Dozen." Needless to say, they're becoming good soldiers and feel they're ready for their task. They have to go before a figurehead of some sort to go on with more training so they all shave, load up in a truck and make for the destination. Marvin tells them they've got to pass for soldiers so look dumb. While there, Bronson goes in the bathroom and is mugged by two guys who want to know who he is. Since he's not wearing any tags, and he won't tell, they don't find out. James Brown and someone else come in and save him, but it's clear they aren't wanted. When they go back to camp and train more, they are finally ready. Marvin gives them party supplies for the night including 8 women and some liquor, and lets them do as they please that night. The next morning, Marvin gets in trouble for his deeds, but insists his men are far more trained than any other in the army. They decide to put that to a test in the upcoming war games. The dirty dozen have to raid the headquarters where the commanders are located just as they will have to later in their mission. More on this later.
