Family Background :

Sandra Bullock was born to American voice trainer John Bullock and German opera singer Helga Meyer. Growing up in Arlington and later moving to Germany and Austria with her family, she often performed in the children's chorus of whatever production her mother was involved in. This talent of hers later became useful in her role of an aspiring country singer in the show The Thing Called Love in which she sang her self-composed piece "Heaven Knocking On My Door". Her family finally moved back to the States where she has lived ever since.

Education :

In 1982, she graduated from Washington Lee High School in Arlington (where she was a cheerleader!) and enrolled in East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, U.S.A. where she studied acting and drama. However, she left before graduating.

Career :

Shortly after leaving the University of Greenville, she moved to the Big Apple to pursue her ambition to be an actress. She played roles in student films and had an obligatory job as a waitress. Later on, she got to act in television programs and then feature films. Among them were Demolition Man and Wrestling Ernest Hemingway but she did not achieve stardom until her smash hit Speed in which she worked alongside Keanu Reeves. She replaced actresses Demi Moore in While You Were Sleeping, and Lori Petty in Demolition Man. She is now one of the most popular and talked-about actress in Hollywood.

Sandra has always been a popular person with the general public. This is probably because she is very down-to-earth. In high school, she was voted "Most Likely To Brighten Up Your Day" by her class. Sandra has also been nominated as "Best Actress" by MTV's Big Picture viewers (1994 & 1995) and by US Magazine readers (1995), "Best Female Performance" and "Most Desirable Female" in Speed at the 1995 MTV movie awards, one of the "50 Most Beautiful People In The World" by the Chosen by People magazine, "Favourite Actress in a Motion Picture"in While You Were Sleeping at the 1996 People's Choice Awards, "Favourite Actress in a Comedy/Drama" (theatrical) and "Favourite Actress - Comedy" (video) at the 1996 BlockBuster Entertainment Awards, and also Ranked #58 in the Empire (UK) magazine's "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" list in October 1997.

Sandra has a younger sister, Gesine, who studies criminal law.

She is very keen at trying out everything, and she obviously found a lot of fun doing handyman work in her own house in Los Angeles, where she resides with her sister and is renovated by herself and her family.

According to reports, Sandra, who, as said above, loves the Net, has an account on America Online which still exists but is not used any more. This is because someone found out her alter ego "screen name", after which he followed her around the Net. Now, she uses a Macintosh Powerbook to communicate with friends around the world. She says that one of her favourite pastimes is to sit at the comp and answer email when she gets home from a movie set late at night while she still has a caffeine rush after one too many Cappuccinos.

Sandra discovered that she is allergic to horses while working on the set of Two if by Sea.

The scar on her head is said to have been formed when she fell into a lake and cut herself on a rock.

Sandra is a good friend to Samantha Mathis.

Man of her life? Well, so far, she's only on her second. Tate Donovan, whom she met on the set of Love Potion No, 9, had a four year relationship with Sandra. This ended in 1994, after which Sandra was seen with other men like quarterback Troy Aikman and at the opening of The Net with Don Padilla. However, Sandra is rumoured to be currently dating Jodie Foster's counterpart in Close Contact, Matthew McConaughey and has recently purchased a home in Texas to possibly start a family in!?! Anyway, Sandra's man of her life must be able to dance the Salsa extremely well... so I guess Matt's not too bad, hey?
