Clap! resume.gif (1551 bytes) Clap!

"Okay, this guy's going to be spouting off about screenwriting - what's he ever done?"

A fair enough question. And easy to answer. My name is David Hines, and I work as the much more clever half of a screenwriting team with Jeffrey Hause. (Just kidding... I'm only a little more clever.) We met in junior high school when I turned around in class to see what Jeff was drawing, complimented him, and he insulted me. We've been inseparable ever since. Whether that's a good thing, we're not sure...

In any event, we began writing screenplays while still in high school (our first script was - surprise! - about high school!) We continued to plug away, each script a slight improvement over the last... mostly because we went from handwriting them to typing. Eventually one thing led to another, and one of the things turned into the film 'Once Bitten', which has the distinction of being the only film he's made that Jim Carrey absolutely refuses to discuss.

Jim! Stop! For the love of God!
Jim Carrey reacts to a young fan who's just told him that 'Once Bitten'
is his favorite film.

Actually, I can't say I blame him. If I'd gone on to his type of success I probably wouldn't mention 'Once Bitten' either. Hell, I didn't go on to that kind of success and I'm not too crazy about discussing it. And by the way - Jim? I won't discuss it for a small negotiable fee. E-mail me, we'll do blackmail.

Anyway, to make a long story short, Jeff and I rode the rocket of 'Once Bitten's' success all the way to anonymity. Well, to the general public, anyway. We've worked as writers-for-hire for 20 years, recently focusing more on spec scripts and independent production than taking assignments. We're currently hard at work (NOTE: THIS SENTENCE ADDED TO APPEASE OUR AGENT!) on another spec, which should be finished real soon. Honest. No kiddin'.
