The police finds the actress, Diana Baring, near the body of her friend.
All the circumstantial proofs seems to drive her and, at the end of the trial, she
is comdemned.
The great actor Sir John Menier, a jury member, is not sure about the girl's guilt
and he starts to enquire into the case.
He suspects on Diana's boyfriend who works as an acrobat wearing feminine
dresses. When Sir John attacks him, the boy is forced to confess the truth before
killing himself during his last exhibition: Diana's friend discovered he was a gay
and he had to kill her.
Diana wanted to protect him from the scandal.

Hitchcock comes back to thrillers in this big intrigue with great suspense and a
surprising end.
