The Rumour...
Ok then, this one is kinda a touchy subject...there were heaps of rumours that Leonardo DiCaprio was dating catwalk model and fashion beauty, Vanessa Haydon. The rumours actually got pretty serious insinuating that Leo was considering settling down his wild ways for his new found love. For Vanessa, this turned out to be great luck..esspecially for her modelling career. On the 8th of May, Sydney Designer, Ms Charlie Brown saw a pic of Vanessa and Leo together and in the wink of an eye called her fashion agency (Wilhelmina) and asked her to come and model for this year's Australian Mercedes Fashion Week.

The Hype...
The idea that Leo was considering laying down his guns and seriously considering a full time relationship was a lot too much for some people to handle! In Leo newsgroups and mailing Lists there was accusations flying that Vanessa was using Leo, others flatly refused to believe that 'their' Leo had taken the plunge and fallen for this girl that no-one had heard of before her and Leo met..

The Truth...
Well it seems that a lot of Leo's fans were more than right....It turns out that Leo and Vanessa were never really an item and that she tended to play on this more than ever to increase her own reputation! While magazines and newspapers continued to crown her as the bride to be, insiders tended to say otherwise. A family friend of Vanessa's went as far as saying, "They’re sort of friends, but she’s been complaining that he never calls her.’’ (Is that what you call a bride to be?) And at a recent dinner at BondSt, the young actor all but ignored Vanessa and exited the restaurant while she was still sitting at a table chatting about how good it is, "that Leo’s found someone to hang out with who is down-to-earth." When she saw him walk out the door, she quickly jumped up and followed.

I think one person layed it all out when she stated, "There is no Leo and Vanessa. There never was a Leo and Vanessa, and there never will be".
