We all know that Madhuri Dixit has been Sanjay’s dream (and that’s Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in case you get some wrong ideas) for a long time now. In fact, both his first two scripts, ‘Khamoshi’ and ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, were conceived with MD in mind. But thanks to the regular glitch, these two couldn’t hitch up and work together. Now rumour has it that, at last, Sanjay’s dream to work with his ideal heroine, is about to come true. Yes, Mads has all but been finalized to play the lead in Bhansali’s next. Bravo Sanjay. Dreams do come true if only you wish hrd enough, right? Though we’re not so sure that Manisha and Ash will be too happy with that. PS: The Buzz has also heard that with Madhuri ready to sign on the dotted line, Sanjay has decided to put his plans of remaking ‘Devdas’ on the backburner for a while. He is now toying with the idea of building a script around the seven wonders of the world. with the beautiful Madhuri being the eight. Hope he knows what he’s doing. Otherwise, ‘Jeans’ anyone?
The Thought that Counts(Filmstrip)
Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit came together last week for a charitable mission. Sparing time out of their hectic schedules, the duo were mascot guests at the launch of two devotional music albums and later released the albums. The sales proceeds from the album will be donated for medical assistance to the poor. Anup Jalota, Sadhna Sargam and Mahendra Kapoor have sung the devotional songs. A thoughtful gesture indeed!
Husain-Mads tussle over Gajagamini release
(Hindustan Times)
The gulf between Madhuri Dixit and M. F. Husain seems to be widening. The latest contention is about the release of Gajagamini. Apparently Husain, who had planned a London, Paris and Toronto release of the film, did not wish to release it in Indian theatres. The painter-turned-filmmaker was keen on holding private screenings of Gajagamini for selective audience in the country. That's when differences cropped up as Mads and her secretary Rikku insisted on a commercial release. The two, who have major stakes in the film, wanted to recover whatever little money possible. After prolonged arguments, the two sides finally reached a settlement. According to the terms of agreement, Gajagamini will now be released only at one cinema hall in a city and will run only for a week in each city. Moreover, theatre owners will have to organise an exhibition of Husain's painting during the film's shows. In the meantime, in their quest to generate public interest in the film, Rikku & Co has leaked out a report that Gajagamini features a steamy dance number featuring Madhuri and Shah Rukh Khan.
Madhuri Magic(Filmstrip)
Everybody wants a glimpse of Madhuri Dixit when she's on the sets. She's just back from her annual month-long US vacation and looks refreshed and ready to go as she acts for an Ajay Devgan starrer. Attired in ethnic wear, Madhuri wore burnished silver jewellery for the dance sequence in progress and the sets were swarming with Madhuri fans. The actress smiled and posed for photos with them. She obliged her fans but didn't do so with the media. When asked for an interview she said, "What for?"
