Behind The Eyes

There are two worlds on Earth.

One, of humans filled with goverments, laws, societies, and a structered civiliation.

The other, unknown to almost all humans; of vampires, shape-shifters, demons, werewolves, and monsters.

This unknown world has existed as long as the human's world has.

Yet, in both worlds, the struggle between good and evil still continues.

Chapter 1

The sun slowly set on the west coast of Ireland. The trees rustled slightly in the breeze. This was normal whether for Spring in Dublin. In the forest by the ocean, giant trees loomed over passer-bys.

In one of those trees, a large bird watched the sunset. What was strange about the bird was it was pure white and that it was an American Bald Eagle. The bird stred at the ocean, seeming hypnotised by the waves crashing aginst the rocks.

The mystifing eagle spread it's white spread it's white wings and soared over the trees gracefully.

In different part of the forest, things were not as peaceful. A young girl by the name of Kathy, frightfully ran through the forest. She turned her head to see nothing behind her, yet she knew something was. The girl jumped over a fallen log and fell into a mudpuddle. Kathy stood up, but before she could run, she was knockeddown by a heavy object. She struggeled, kicked and punched the attacker. Though as hard as she fought, her attacker finally pinned her down. It was too dark to see it's face, but the young girl could tell that it had an evil look across it. "Let me go, please!" she pleaded. A male voice answeared with an evil laugh and said "I caught my dinner, and it wouldn't be fair if I let you go, would it?" He laughed again and turned her head to the right so her neck showed. "This won't hurt a bit. Before you know it, it'll be over." the voice said.

Just as Kathy thought her life was over, she heard a ear-bursting screech. In the sky, a white shadow was coming towards them. Her attacker yelled out in pain and rolled off her. He yelled out in pain once again, as the shadow attacked him. Kathy ran behind a tree and stopped to see what was happening.

The young girl watched as the man who attacked her slowly, stood up, knees shaking. Her eyes widened as she saw his face. It was wrinkled, not like the face of a grandfather, but giant wrinkles. Two white fangs stuck out of his mouth. The "man" yelled angerly at the shadow, which looked like a eagle from America. "Damn it, Des! Do you have to inturrupt me everytime I'm having dinner?!"

She watched as the eagle formed a human shape. Kathy was amazed to see a woman with long, blonde hair and blue-green eyes. "I'm afriad I do, Wills. Just helpin' out the slayers!" she said, smirking. Kathy noticed that the woman's clothes were very simple; a long, white dress and she was barefoot.

"Why," Wills asked in a frustraed voice, "Do you help slayers? You know they'll never help you." The girl smiled. "I help slayers simply because they are on the side of good and not evil like you, you reject from Hell!" she said. Kathy was surprised hen the man's face straighted out and looked like a normal human's face.

In a blink of an eye, he and the eagle-woman were gone. Unknown to Kathy a dark figure had watch the whole thing. Kathy turned and started to run in the opposite direction as fast as she could. _Will Mama and Papa be surprised when they hear this!_ She thought as she ran towards home.

The stars glowed brightly over Astoria, Oregon. Beyond the camping grounds, where no Winnibago was in sight, a party was being held. This particular party was being held at the only lake that almost all humans did not know about. Immortal Lake.

The "party" had already started when the white wolf entered . It looked around. Most of the guests talking in groups of two and three; turning each other into statues, beandip and such; while some loudly made out only to turn each other into vampires, even though both may be vampires already.

The wolf silently turned into her human form. One of the partiers saw the scene and he walked over to the young woman.

The young woman, who looked as if she was in her late teens, had long, blonde hair falling down the sides of her face. The partier stared at her green-blue eyes. Her white dress was clean as if it was brand new..

In an Europian accent siad "Hello, how are you this evening?" The woman looked at him, smiled and replied "Fine, and how are you?"

The man was taller than her, had short black hair and blue-greenish eyes. "I am fine. What is your name? I am Alek." he said, smiling a warm smile. "I am Destiny," the shape-shifter responded, "Destiny Welcoax. It's very nice to meet you, Alek." They shook hands. After they shook hands, he said "Welcoax? That name sounds so familiar, but I can't quite place it. . . " Destiny smiled and confirmed "My father was the leader of the League of Good."

"Ah." Alek said. A sympathetic look formed on his face as said "I'm sorry about what happened. . . " "We're all sorry." she quickly said.

Later. . .

Destiny sat on a giant rock next to the lake. She stared across the lake, eyes reflecting the half moon in the star-studed sky. There was no wind that night, so the trees were motionless.

Behind her, Destiny heard a voice shout out "Let's go swimming!" and she felt two pairs of feet run past her and jump into the water. Soon, followed by a few more pairs of feet. The shape-shifter, however, paid no attention to the swimmers.

A black head popped up in front of her out of the water. "Hey Des, how are you?" the head said. She looked down at him and smiled. "Pretty good. And you, Midnite?" Destiny greeted her friend.

Midnite pulled himself out of the water and sat next to her. "Everything alright? You seem a little down." the Wesly asked. "I'm fine, just . . .thinking." Destiny assured the friend, not looking at him. "Ok, as long as you say your alright." He replied and jumped back into the lake.

Destiny creeped into the woods, hoping to be alone. She walked past a pile of fallen trees and dogded stepping on a small black snake.

Out of nowhere, she heard what sounded like a young girl's "Help!" The shape-shifter quickly turned into a white wolf. The wolf ran as fast as her legs could carry her, leaping over fallen trees and large puddles. Within two or three mintues, Destiny was in a clearing. She looked around, the owner of the cry for help was nowhere to be seen.

Suddenly, Destiny felt the "ground" lift her up. She was in a net! Even though she her hardest to get out of the trap, she couldn't. Destiny changed from a white wolf to a white eagle back to her human form. "Help!" She yelled, trying to untangle her legs. Then, Destiny heard laughter.

A dark figure stepped out from behind a tree. It was an unusually small, dark figure, but Destiny knew who it was. "Mandor." She said softly. A small girl stepped out; with brown hair, in two braids; a small pink dress; and didn't look any older than five years old. The small girl smiled and in a surprisingly deep voice said "Ah, Destiny. So, we meet once again." The girl slowly turned into a tall man who had dark hair, dark eyes and sported dark clothes. He smurked at her and walked up to her face. "I told you, Des," his deep voice chilling up her spine, "You will never get away from me. Ever." Destiny, regrouping herself, replied "And if a restriant order is filed?"

Mandor growled and waved his hand. Destiny gasped as the ropes that made up the net turned into living snakes. The snakes slithered along her skin. "Aaaaahhh!" She screamed as she ran out of the pile of snakes fell into the arms of the demon. "I've waited for a long time for this moment." He said with an evil smile. The shape-shifter jumped out of his arms and quickly turned into a white wolf. She growled and snarled . Mandor waved his hands and in a dark flash of light, disappeared.

The wolf turned and ran back to the lake. Up in a tree above the clearing, the dark figure stroked his hair back and jumped out of the tree. He lands silently and follows after the wolf.
