Hi! My name is Cherri and I have had panic attacks since I was 6 years old. Long time huh? Through these pages, I will tell you my story of dealing with panic disorders, how I met my wonderful husband, and the story of my father's fight with cancer.
These pages are dedicated to Jesus Christ. I praise him every day for saving me of my sins!! And, without Him, I wouldn't have the skills to be able to reach people worldwide that suffer from panic disorders. They are also dedicated to my father's memory who, for many years, fought off his panic attacks and was finally able to be free of them but was diagnosed with kidney cancer in September of 1997. On April 13th, 1998 daddy lost his fight. But he is no longer suffering and is with his Maker now. I know that one day I will be reunited with daddy in Heaven.
The Lord led me to a wonderful place on the Internet to get inspiration delivered to my email every day. For those of you who don't know what panic attacks or panic disorders are or those of you who have them but aren't sure how to deal with them, I am going to be explaining some of my experiences with them and give you some insight into how I have managed to go from around 2 or 3 a week to an average of 3 a YEAR!!
Panic disorders are unexplained and unprovoked fight-or-flight responses. Your body displays the normal physiological response to a life-threatening situation or extreme physical exertion, but there is no apparent stimulus. By this I mean that there is no apparent reason to feel panicky.
Through my experience with panic attacks, there would be no reason for me to feel "nervous" but something in my brain would tell my body there was something wrong and my body would try to fight back by going into a panic attack situation. I would start to feel shaky, my legs would feel like limp noodles, I would get headaches, and so on. My other links tell more about the physical problems and psychological problems of the attacks.
