The Dencats-L List Serv is an automatic email discussion list for cardiothoracic surgery and associated topics in Developing Nations. Difficult or interesting clinical cases, management issues, surgical techniques and innovations, new data and research results are all posted by the members.

The DENCATS Forum Bulletin Board [Coming Soon !] will allow members to post messages of a professional or personal nature. Messages should be short, and should NOT contain any large graphics or images.

The DENCATS Forum Online Journal - THE CRUCIBLE will consider original manuscripts - full articles, case reports, or brief communications - dealing with all aspects of cardiothoracic surgery, anesthesia and perfusion for "publishing" on our website. The only proviso we make is that the work must relate to problems common in developing countries.
If you desire to submit your work, please visit the "Instructions To Authors" page detailing "Guidelines for Submission". We are presently LOOKING FOR NEW MANUSCRIPTS for posting, and guarantee that they will be posted very quickly.
A monthly Newsletter detailing the work of the forum and its growth and development will be e-mailed to all members. An updated list of members will also be included. Short news reports of general interest may be submitted for inclusion in the newsletter.

The most important constraint in developing nations is the limited finances available for medical care. In the CRUCIBLE , we exchange ideas and obtain suggestions and opinions on the "Million Dollar Question" - How to cut costs ? Indiginous equipment, low cost "alternate" materials, "fast-tracking"....all this and much more can be tossed about and analyzed. YOUR ACTIVE PARTICIPATION is of great importance in this section !
A list of all active members of the DENCATS Forum, with institutional affiliation and e-mail and postal addresses. New members will have their data added within a week or two of registration.
Periodically, we plan to have special discussions on topical issues of interest. Check this site out often, and become an active participant in all of these events. If possible, we can also arrange an annual or semi-annual get-together of Forum members !
Review Articles on therapeutic issues will be the feature of this section. Also, a list of links to educational institutions and online teaching groups are available.
