To all the members of Contra Costa County chapter of AORN: welcome back. Hope everyone has had a pleasant and fun summer. For me, the time went way too fast and now we are (hopefully) getting back into an exciting, fulfilling and educational year for CCCAORN. The Board of Directors met in July to set the calendar and make plans for this year’s meetings. Our meeting will be mostly on Thursday, due to meeting room conflicts. Our Vice President, Martha Gex, has been working hard planning educational sessions. Two that are in the works are: Mohs surgery, and hip pinning, with ideas for other meetings. Our September meeting was planned by Past President, Diane Graham, and will be on “Surgical Outcome Data”. See attached flyer. If there is a subject you are especially interested in, please let someone on the Board know. Martha would love to have some more ideas.

Our July meeting was combined with a golf tournament planning session. Our tournament is on. Saturday, October 6, 2007 and we are looking for donations, hole sponsors, raffle prizes and other ideas for raising money for our tournament. Our tournament is our only fund raiser for the year, and the money is used for OR education. We give two scholarships per year to nursing students that are interested in perioperative nursing and are taking perioperative nursing courses. These funds are also used to send delegates to Congress every year. We are always looking for volunteers for our committee and if you are interested, please let us know. It is a fun and rewarding day.

If you have never attended one of our general meetings, you have been missing out. One hour of CEU is given for each Inservice Presentation and is free! How can you beat that? Not only that, our meetings are fun and dinner is only $10.00. One night a month is not much, and it would be great if each and every one of our chaper members could attend at least a few meetings.

Dinner at 6pm. General meeting – 6:15 pm – 7 pm. Inservice Presentation – 7 pm – 8 pm. Hope to see you on September 6, 2007.
