Bruce's Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Story

Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005

Our granddaughter saw the pediatric nephrologist. I'm happy to report that, although she does have proteinuria, it's VERY slight at this point. Yeah!!!...In case you're wondering, the doctor does believe it's because of the e-coli she had! Apparently, the pedicatric nephrologist has been seeing many children that were victims of that e-coli epidemic.

As for Bruce, last week he stopped taking the Prednisone entirely. He is SO glad to finally be off of it! His rash is almost completely gone now, his "moon" face is going away, and he's feeling better than he has in quite awhile!

Bruce also had blood work done last week & today he saw the nephrologist. His blood counts are about the same as they were the last time he was tested, but the nephrologist is still wanting Bruce to see a vascular surgeon to get an access put in (for dialysis). Bruce understands the doctor's reasoning for wanting Bruce to get the access (it takes 3-6 months healing time before the access can be used & Bruce could go into ESRF at any time), but still...

We think once the holidays are over with, we'll be going to Boston for Bruce to get a 2nd opinion. By then, the influence of the Prednisone should be completely gone & we'll have a better idea of what Bruce's body is really doing...cancer-wise, as well as how the kidney is doing.

We hope any Americans reading this, are having a great Thanksgiving! Bruce & I are counting our blessings today! :)
