Of all the joys and sorrows of a lifetime of living, no event can be traumatic in the life of any parent than the birth of an handicapped child. Ignorance among people has led to a lot of unnecessary social pressure not only on the families but also on people with mental handicap. This site is an attempt to give information to all in the Indian subcontinent. I aim to provide information so that D.S. Children can be looked upon as individuals.

My son Arjun was born on 9th/August/1991. At first we were devastated but it did not take us long to get used to the reality of life and now we are thoroughly enjoying every moment with him. Arjun has never really been a troublesome child and god willing has shown no early disorders associated with down syndrome. He started walking at about 22 months and now is as hyperactive as one can be, it does get tiring watching him all day. He was about six  years by the time he became "potty ' trained.

He now goes to special school which has done him a great deal of good and we are now concentrating on his speech where he seems to be lagging behind. His elder sister is a great influence on him.
Arjun celebrated his 9th birthday on the 9th of August 2000. He enjoys planning a birthday and loves to invite his sisters friends. Loves to collect his presents and if someone delays or forgets, he makes it a point to remind.
