The Vaidyaratnam Tradition

Ayurveda is an ancient medical system developed in India that has global acceptance today. It has eight branches, collectively called Ashtangas. The Keraleeya system of ayurveda is unique and among it's modern practitioners, The Ashtavaidyan Thaikkattu Mooss family is widely respected for it's mastery of all these branches. It is stated that the ayurvedic lineage of the family can be traced to Parasurama; legends attribute the origin of Kerala to him.
The Late Narayanan Mooss and Late Ittiravi Mooss were sought after by kings and nobles in the 19th century.  In appreciation of the services of Late Narayanan Mooss, the Vyceroy of India, Lord Reading bestowed on him the title, Vaidyaratna in 1924. The son of Narayanan Mooss, Late Padmashree Neelakandhan Mooss started the Vaidyaratman Aushdhasala in 1941, which manufactures Ayurvedic medicines, conducts research, trains physicians and runs an Ayurvedic hospital. With branches and agencies all over India, the name Vaidyaratnam has become house-hold in south India. Please see the website of Vaidyaratnam Oushadhasala for mor information.

Sukhada now offers advanced Ayurvedic therapies in Chennai strictly in accordance with the centuries old traditions of the Thaikkattussery Mooss family. All the physicians and masseurs are from the Vaidyaratnam group and all the medicines are from it's oushadhasala. Thus, the traditional treatments are now available at the South Indian metropolis, Chennai.
