Party on, Garth!

January 2K1 ~
Had a fantasticly drab and awful holiday - the 10 year reunion of Mom's funeral hit pretty hard. It's important to let waves of loss wash over you when the tide comes in, rather than run from them.

Made it through just fine and kicked off the year with a great trip to Whistler with a good buddy of mine from San Francisco. It was a beautiful weekend and the drive up and back is always spectacular. Found out lots about "local" Whistler life and made some new friends while there.

Oh, and we all got a new pet in the White House . . .

Move over . . . Feisty is comin through

February 2K1 ~

Blink . . . where did February go? Has anyone seen our snow season? It was supposed to come right after Turkeyday . . .
Looking forward to Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee next month . . . should be a welcome reprise from this Cascade Concrete! Among long distance boarding trips, enjoyed a great run to Steven's Pass with some giant Leprechauns of my acquaintance.

March 2K1 ~
Spring is here. Richie is back in Ireland. We survived his christening party - can't remember the last time I saw 4:30 in the morning. We took most all of the boarding and roadtrip shots on his Digital Elph - slick little clicker. It was sad to see him return to the Green Isle, but now I have even more incentive to visit Europe for the first time. Despite the sorrow of parting, couldn't have had a better finale to the season than a 6 day road trip to Jackson Hole. Stopped to see Elle and the Anklebiters. Sopped up all the Wild West we could stand and loved every minute of it. Richie, don't forget vanilla airfreshners, tumbleweeds, pizza or your special roommates. Or the great Harumph of 2001.

Currently seeking out my birth mom again. Let's hope she consents to contact this time. My heart goes out to all fellow adoptees. The reunion process is a sacred rite that we all must face, and often with little understanding from others. Be strong . . . and embrace it.

U2 Elevation Tour 2001

April 2K1 ~
Irish Spring! Richie always rolled his eyes at any attempt to celebrate Irish tradition - Irish bars, St. Patty's Day, etc. I was standing in line at the store and saw a 6 pack of Irish Spring soap and ALMOST picked it up to mail to him. He would not have forgiven me . . .

Speaking of Ireland, it was a 9 year wait, but well worth it. Saw U2 - Elevation Tour in Tacoma. The albumn was incredible but the show blew the roof off the Tacoma Dome.

Enjoyed a visit from my buddy Jimmy. We trekked up Wallace Falls, ate WAY too much good home cooking and experienced the Zen of Squirrels on campus at UW. Jimmy was a newcomer to the beauty of the Pacific Northwest - he got the full E ticket tour, to be sure.

Only a couple weeks till vacation in the Bay! Woo hoo!

May 2K1 ~
Most of May is for Taurus's's's . . . or Taurii for short. This is a clan that has meant a lot to me over the years. Being Taurus Rising
( whatever that means ) probably accounts for several of my common behaviors - tenacity, leadership, steadfast loyalty and the complete lack of self control about compulsive cleaning!

Nah, just kidding. The people I know born from the end of April to end of May account for some of the most focused, purposeful and loving kind I know. A warm birthday wish and shout out to: Mike in SF, Douglas Paul, Michael J. aka Big Daddy Krone, Wes, Melissa, Kim, Benny Bear, Tye, Nathanial Paul, Joseph Victor, and Richard Joseph.

Be good to your Taurii - be honest and loyal and notice their virtues. Excellent friends to have and hold.

June 2K1 ~
Let me tell you - as much as snowboard season rocks, summertime ain't half bad! Traveling and keeping busy here with home improvement projects. Helped John and John move into their new home in Leschi. What a great place they found!

Searching for DOROTHY again (my birth mother). Does anyone out there know a retired university prof. in her 50's named Dorothy? That's about all I found out on my first search attempt. It's pretty grueling, sitting around waiting for a searcher to deliver the verdict. Whatever the outcome, searching has been a galvenizing experience as an adoptee, it's true! If you are adopted and wondering whether or not to attempt contact I'd encourage it enthusiastically. It will help clear the Feng Shui of your mind and clear blocked issues for you.

Linda, my Other Mother has been excitedly preparing for her trip to NYC to see her daughter, recently returned from Egypt. There are childhood families and chosen families - the members of my chosen family are invaluable through their love and support. It's just not fair that they're flung to the Four Winds.

I want to thank Joe and Ronny and Mike and Bill and Andy and Geeorge and Matthew and Dave and Sho and especially Linda for an amazing San Francisco Pride celebration 2001.

Here's some Pride for you. The B 52s ROCKED Civic Center!
