All Hypnosis is Self-Hypnosis
Self-hypnosis is like daydreaming. So we already know how to hypnotize ourselves. When we read a good book or watch a good movie we get involved. We join the characters in the setting and go along with the story.
What you need to do is create a story for yourself. Pick a place where you can relax, and nothing and no one may enter that space you will create. Bring in those things you enjoy. The boundaries of your special place will keep all stress, and the world at large, out!
Write your story. Bring in all your senses. Suggest things
- what are you doing in your safe place: sitting, standing, walking, jogging
- what are you seeing: the sun playing on the surface of the water, breeze rustling the leaves, clouds drifting lazily by,
-
what are you hearing: the water cascading over the edge of your fountain, thundering over a water fall, birds or insects lulling you, breeze whispering through the leaves
-
what are you smelling or tasting: a summer rain storm has just passed refreshing the air, the breeze coming off the ocean, the earth beneath the trees, the heavenly scents of your flower garden
-
what are you feeling: the warmth of the sun on your face and skin, the cool breeze off the lake, the soft bed of moss you are lying on, the way the sand conforms to your body, the firm support of the rock you are leaning on, how tiny you feel on your mountain top
-
Make suggestions like:
- the peace and tranquility seeps into every cell of your body
-
You strip all cares and worries from your body and mind as you enter your tranquil place
-
you soak up the healing vibrations from your surroundings
-
you become one with God and all creation
Record you story.-
read slowly, leave pauses when you want to experience what you have suggested
-
play music or nature sounds, that fit well with your story, in the background as you read
-
don't burn the cd yet, play with your story and your reading. Are there changes you would like to make? Make them.
-
Remember only God is perfect, all you can do, is the best you can do.
Put it all together-
turn your screen saver on or clear your desktop
-
make yourself comfortable
-
play your recording
-
practice daily for 5 -15 minutes, this is your mini mental vacation way from the stressors in your life.
-
Play in your safe place: it should be fun, enjoyable, relaxing, a place for you to reconnect with YOU.
Soon you will find you can do this anywhere! In your car at rush hour, on your coffee break, standing in line at the bank, in the middle of an exam! Why let life get to you?
You can help yourself!
