Overcoming Fears and PhobiasIn most cases, all it takes is one event where we learned to fear something. That event then determines how we react to any other situation that seems similar. One dog bite, one mouse or spider mom reacted to, one news event with graphic pictures, can go into the subconscious and becomes a part of our thought processes. Through hypnosis we can go back in time and find that event. If this event happened during childhood we may not have had the proper judgement faculties in place to make a distinction between what is truly a threat and what may pose a threat. They are one and the same to our subconscious. No matter when the event happened we can have a look at the situation and determine if there is something else we could do about the information. For fears that are unfounded, such as those learned by watching the behaviours of others, learning a few stress coping mechanisms can help you through the situation. Living safely through these perceived hazardous events will help you learn that such cases may not be as ominous as once thought. One can then Build new thought processes through successful outcomes. The mind can be a stage where you practice confronting your fears until you have enough confidence to face them for real. Moving one small step at a time to learn new behaviours to over write the old ones. This form is called desensitization. Can we help you take back your life? BSc, CHt
