August 2nd

Ok we are here, whats messed up is that our promised promo tickets to the Spitkicker Tour never came, so from now on we will not be supporting any events put on or affiliated wih bill silvia productions.!
Doomsday orders were finaly filled, we should have a review of the CD Northtown VS Westside 2 along with the video next month.
KaL Radio will be closing down according to DTR records they feel that they dont have he time to give a full effort and dont want to put out something half stepping. =(
Our store customers will have an added treat to their purchesses, Red Eye Magazine will be kicking us down some copies of their next issue and we will include them with every order, folks can pick up the mag at Industry Records, if there are any left. It is a real tight mag. visit redeyemagazine.com
We took a look at artcrimes.com and to our surprise we found some sites located under the Nevada/Las Vegas Section. When we first checked them out they were down but now they seem to be up now but we dont know if they are vegas writers or what so we will check them out and let you know, or check em yourself.
Well the summer is shaping up for its 2 biggest concerts in town, the Up In Smoke tour will be rolling thru along with Cypress Hill & Limp Bizkit. Cypress making there second trip here i believe? anyway Cypress & Bizkit will be performing the 10th of this month but where? we dont know we havent heared anything else. probably Thomas & Mack and Up In Smoke will be on the following day (11th) also at the Thomas & Mack. It is possible though that the Cypress date will change...???
Ok on with the reviews, finaly we will complete the DJ Lexx Saga & also review DJ Rukus second tape Addictiveness"

DJ Lexx "Wheels Of Steel" Tape 3 (Double Trouble Records) Mix Tape 90min
This tape wasnt a too bad of way to end it, good tracks nice quality. Tracks from Canibus, Talib Kweli, MC Shan, Nas (ofcourse), Prince Paul, Ja Rule, Emminem and many more. there isnt much to say that has not been said over the past 2 tapes. overall it is a good pause tape/compilation style series, and a definite to the east coast fan and it is nice to see a little something differnt from time to time.

DJ Rukus "Addictiveness" Tape 2 (Double Trouble Records) Mix Tape 90min
Rukus returns fresher then before with blazers from The Chapter, Pharoahe, Lynch, Loose Mindz, DruDaPimp, and an onslaught of wu-bangers from Ghost, Meth, Gza and more!
A nice packadge in all, improved mixing and track selection, Dope Skits & fresh turntablism. only complaints were some old tracks ( a few ) and some mixing was off to. but i would still pick it up!

Well is that great A Double from Double Trouble!
ha we should be comed.... ahh never mind.
until next month......
the darkness is back! Peace

July 1st

Whats up! first thing is that we have a new e-mail address, it is VegasReal@webtv.net so send us all your info, comments, orders, etc. here.
We picked up a couple of promo flyers from Infamous Records & Z-Money Records. Infamous records released Lyte Tyme Hustla's album, it was suposed to drop June 11th N-E-ONE seen it? Space Hog is up on it to, they were at the Northtown VS Westside 2 Release party (which wasnt really a release) D-Hood-Lum drops in and also Yukmouth makes an appearance. Z-Money Records is home to Zito who was also at the party his album which is untitled is scheduled to be released sometime this year, you might try www.z-money.com but it never goes thru!
Among other updates arund the site we expanded the biz section, it now showcases studios and we have brought back an one of our original sections where you can peep the club scene.
This month we have 2 reviews of DJ Lexx "Wheels OF Steel" Tape 2 & Loose Mindz "Mold-N-Shape"

DJ Lexx "Wheels Of Steel" Tape 2 (Double Trouble Records) Mix Tape 90in Cassette
Lexx hits us with his second tape of the 3 tape series.
This time around he kicks off with a much nicer intro of Nas-Dr Knockboots as he flips that. the quality sounds a little better to. Tape 2 has blazin tracks from Keith Murray Feat. Canibus, Eve, Smooth Tha Hustler, The Roots Feat. Common, Canibus, Naughty By Nature, Charli Baltimore Feat. Ghostface Killah, INSpectah Deck, Nas/Nature/Dre, DMX and more! this is worth picking up just based on the tracklist it is well blended. If you digged the first you'll love this one and if you havent picked any up, then get this one!

Loose Mindz "Mold-N-Shape" (Lost Found Records/ Most High Entertainment)
"Mold-N-Shape" brings you 14 tracks inlcuding interludes.
and i do hate to say this, especialy about a local group but they do need a little more Mold-N- Shaping. Why i say this you ask? well i expected more here, after be introduced to them from a cut on DJ Rukus' new tape "Addictiveness" (more on that later) i was eager to hear more, but found the album leaving me half full. It has its ups and downs, on some tracks the production is fresh and tight while others are weak and to simple. The lyrics run the same way, at times its on point with ill flow and new concepts, then there is weak flows and weak rhymes. i would expect more from a 7 deep crew, i feel fans on loose mindz will maybee enjoy this more then a new listener.

Double Trouble Affiliate Producer Tack-Fu drops another CD release titled "Chained Reaction", you might remember his last release "Yen & Slang" which sold well at Da Joynt. Fu comes again with an original style, half the album has guest MC's and the other half is bomb instrumentals with voice overs. You can pick it up at our store, at Da Joynt or at EQ's store which is next door. Look out for the review probably next month.
MC Eiht & The Commrads rolled thru Vegas and perfrmed at The Hop early last month on the 7th. when we found ot it was to late so no review sorry.
DJ Rukus is at it again, with tape 2 "Addictiveness" just recently released, although i havent seen it at Da Jonynt or anywhere else? hmmmm. Also he has planned to release another mix tape real soon and promises it to be even better! Speaking of the Double Trouble Crew, they are taking anoher shot at the web, so we LVRR will be hosting the new site! stay locked for more details!
A local 2pac tribute has all of the sudden surfaced, dont have much info about it. it has a bunch of rappers dedicating music to pac.
Fans had to wait almost 3 weeks after the party just to hear Northtown VS Westside 2 on CD/Cassette but mail order fans who pre-ordered the CD and or Video are STILL waiting for it to reach mailboxes. Fans have sent in complaints wanting us to find out whats the deal, well we found out that Doomsday received the Video Tape on the 30th and will ship pronto! so we will keep you updated on this!
Where is KaL Radio? we havent seen anything from KaL Radio for over a year, ever since Double Trouble bought it out and suposadly made another show and promised to bring it back in full swing but nothing has happened!!
We have some treats for our customoers!
with every purchess you will receive 1 of the following with your order, TQ Bandana, Puerto Rock Bandana, 50 Cent Album Sampler, Outsiderz 4 Life album sampler , A.B.Y.S.S album sampler! So pick up that tight local/locally released shit at the store!
Gettin hyped about the upoming Spitkicker tour coming to the Hard Rock? we have caught word on great reviews of the tour! cant wait! we will try hard to make it there and will keep you updated
Peace

Gimmie Some Mo!

Extra

Well, since we are behind in reviews and in some cases getting the materiel late we decided to give ya'll 2 reviews and will also have the normal 2 review's this following month. sound good? kool.

DJ Rukus "The Debut" (Double Trouble Records) Cassette
Finaly DJ Rukus formanly known as DJ Q/Master Q (ok last time we are going to say that) has released a solo debut. titled non other then "The Debut". Rukus lays it down as a rule breaking DJ in a way, although his turntablism skillz are not at his best, he is ablee to manipulate the tracks in a benifcial way, sometimes if you dont know the song real way you may think what he is adding is apart of the song. "partialy what a DJ has to do is promote MC's, if he can make the song sound even better then both worlds benifit" says DJ Rukus. A wide variety of Hip Hop ranging from all parts of the US and differnt forms, including tracks from 7 differnt local artist which nobody here has ever done, like shit from DruDaPimp, TOP, Concepts Of Life, Boo Brown, and others, also tracks from Daz, Crucial Conflict, Big L, Kool DJ EQ Aceylone & Abstract Rude, Divine Styler, Masta Ace, and many more. things that lack where some mixes that werent all that great and his daring shot to throw in some old early 90's joints that will either turn you off or on. this tape goes up and down but for the good part its mostly up, at times its off da hook and at others you wonder why that made the final cut. over all its a good tape and worth atleast checkin' out.

The Chapter "Beneath The Sand" EP Vinyl, Cassette,CD
VERBAL E. & 3SIXTY bring the pain on this 6 track EP! Released independently, these southside chicago natives now Vegas Locol's unravel hip hop in its beutiful form. With Verbal E. keeping the lyrics on point, 3sixty is behind the bords and on the tables. it all kicks off with "For The Record" an intro of sorts 3SIXTY waist's now time with the ill scratches and Verbal E. kicks a short rhyme over a low bass track with a nice sample. "The Chapter" is one of our favorites, A melow track with tight bass and drum hits Verbal E. gets down with a dope catchy hook. "Intravenus" is another melow track that once again is dope, tight lyrics, scratches, is here. "Evil Of All Roots" thsi one is my fav for the minute its heavily bassed out track where 3SIXTY cuts up "Get Get Get Get Money" and Verbal rips into the subject of the damage money can cause. he spits "The Evil Of All Roots/Make and Ugly Nigga Cute" with this track alone is worth buying the EP. "L Train" is a more gritty street beat where KRS One's vocal "Take The Train" is cut up nicely. Verbal E. Comes direct and powerfull on this one. "Backwards Ass J Deez" brings the EP to a close, this is where 3sixty gets to shine almost briefly though, he displays his turtablism skillz while Verbal E. is chantin' "Backwards Ass J Deez". Overall the album was tight nearly a classic. there should be no doubt when buying this, it is defenitly worth it!

June 4th

Bacc at you again, ok got some good some bad, we planned on coppin' Northtown VS Westside II that way we can remember who performed and all but we found out its not gonna be out till the 20-22nd!! What?! how you gonna have a release party and there aint no release? oh well. We will let you know what we can,
I believe there where about 100-200 people showed up, people were in and out so it was hard to tell, the funny thing was that half of the people were rappers. After a short delay performances kicced off. the problam i found was that the mic volume was too high which gave out a litle sound problam. but no doubt everybody who performed were good if not tight. what really set it off was when Redrum Inc. started,i gotta give it up to Eklypse, his performance was real dope. other then hoe's squabbin and the DJ's fuccin up with the records and dats (instrumental's for the Artist to perform were on those dats) it was tight, shit we dont have many of these so you gotta take it when offered. when we eventully cop it we can re-cap on who performed. sorry! We do remember Space Hog, and last was Zito they were tight. Also last month BET held it 20th Anniversery in the Sin. Headz like Chuck D to James Brown will in full force. i think people like it here because it is veary easy to come here and no one would know. its so fast paced.
A couple days bacc Loose Mindz flow'd up at the community College for a local talent show
be on the look out for mo reviews, new site sections, mo artist info, mo releases, and we have a shippment of some specialy designed LVRR embroided Cracc pipes on its way! pre-order yours for $5! dope-fiend discount $4! (Joke)! c'mon laugh!

June 2nd

Whats up Hip Hoppas, welcome to once again another dope ass summer!
We got alot of news to enlighten you on so checc it out!
Snoop Dogg and Xzibit dropped in the 702 and ripped it at the Karl Kani afterparty (from the Magic Show) it was the only party really jumpin' appartly fubu's was just a social type thang. Now if ya wonderin' why we didnt cover the magic show well here is why, $60-80 pants and a $30-30 T-Shirt isnt Hip Hop, we are all Hip Hop without Fubu or Karl Kani and all it is, is a way to milk money from people and give them the immpression that they are down with hip hop if they buy it. Hip Hop is a state of mind, a way of life not a pair of pants. dont get me wrong clothing has always played a role in hip hop but that doesnt mean it is hip hop ya dig?
Double Trouble Records has been hard at work since we were down, and i must say it keeps getting better and better much luv to em, here are some brief reviews of a couple of recent releases.
DJ Phizyx "Old School Hip Hop" (Double Trouble Records/Phy-6 Productions)
Hands down this is the best Old School Hip Hop tape i have ever listened to! Over 100 tracks mixed on a 110 minute tape, damn its just off da hook any fan of old school needs this! and it doesnt even overflood the listener with loud screaming voices or the same played out old school jamz that you hear on the radio or in clubs, infact i am sure it will introduce new old school jamz to ya, shut up and listen to your instructor DJ Phizyx as he takes you thru the Drum Machine/Beat Box Era 1983-1987 pick it up at our store or at Da Joynt!

DJ Lexx "Wheels Of Steel" #10 Tape 1 (Double Trouble Records)
A new addition to the Double Trouble crew, DJ Lexx hits you with a nice "Radio Style" mixtape, meaning he plays the whole songs, ads his 2 cents at times, and briefly scratches to add depthness. and not that this is at all in a bad way, its kind of like the way you wish your local radio DJ would be ya know? Lexx comes with the Eastcoast Flava via Freestyles from Big L, Exclusive from Ja Rule and ya fav's from Gangstarr, Lost Boyz, SLick Rick, Jay-Z, Rass Kass, Ruff Ryders and much more. if your a hard core radio listener this is your answer to your prayers, others should find something in here to, look out for part 2 & 3! next time

A couple of weeks ago i was at sunrise hospital with my wife (she had a baby boy) and who did i see? i saw this guy in a mini van sportin' an addy for Loose Mindz news CD i believe its called Mind-N-Matter if my memory serves me correct, so whats up did one of there members have a kid to or somethin' else? if ya know let me know! in the meantime checc http://www.masterjacipher.com thats their site but i couldnt get it it wouldnt load me to the page.?.?.?!
We are gradualy updating the site, things have been busy so its hard, we need your help by sending us some info on people here in the LV, if they are the real and we dont have them in our sections such as MC's, DJ's, Graff Writers, B-Boy/girl(s) etc. let us know, maybee just a name and a lil info will do. we need to get everybdy on here and we need to support everybody!
Last night at the Sanctuary was on and poppin we will give you a full report on it within a couple of days, i know i know!
In the meantime go pick up Northtown vs. Westside II, from the performances last night it should be off the hook, there is alot of new artist this time around aswell we havent been able to get ahold of it yet (why they dont send us a copy i dont know) but when we do we will let you know. there is also a video tape wich includes behind the scenes footage, interviews with the artist, studio footage, and music video's including Redrum Inc.'s new cut "Ill be Back" if ya didnt know Redrum Inc. is a fusion between the hardcore rap of Pitt & Eklypse & an Alternative rock group which we dont know if they were named before, but they are definitly a force that all eyez should be on.
Ok talk about Blue Ragg has been goin around for some time now and we have an update and hopefully this one sticc's!
Ruthless of Blue Ragg (didnt know it was a group) was granted parole by the board but his release date is not untill december, so Cin Sity Records will release Blue Ragg "Tales From The Crip" EP late july. Cant wait!
Also all you vinyl junkies might find youraself withdrawing a couple of days, Da Joynt will be no longer selling Vinyl because of the low profit gained, so the only way you can get vinyl is by ordering it thru them, you pay up front and get your wrekordz within 3 days, the prices are better though but it still shows how the industry with there CD mixers push out the original turntables and vinyl. but we cant always blame them, i mean the average fan doesnt have a record player, and basicly doesnt need one. oh well im just ramblin'!
keep an eye out for an update within the next couple of days!

News Flash!

Check the Events section, Cin Sity Records is throwin a Northtown VS Westside II Record Release party! packed with performances and a step show! I'm there, are you?
Expect a full news report June 1st or 2nd!
