What is MS?
Multiple Sclerosis (MS), is generally accepted today as an autoimmune disease directed toward the central nervous system. An autoimmune disease is a disease in which the immune system, structured to protect the body from foreign bacteria and viruses, turns against the body and attacks good cells within the body. In the case of multiple sclerosis, the immune system attacks a components of the central nervous system called myelin (NMSS). To understand the possibilities of multiple sclerosis, a quick review of the anatomy of central nervous system is necessary.
