- PACS cost analysis and benifits in developing country
In developing country, implementing PACS may not be as feasible as in developed countries. Our project focuses on the unrevealed facts that a hospital may come across during PACS feasibility evaluation in terms of direct and indirect cost.
- Using free software for medical image manipulation
There are many license-based graphic software available in market which have been used for image manipulation in medical sciences. Paying for license-based imaging software at institutional or individual level may prove costly. This money can be saved or can be utilized in some other way, unless same image manipulation functions available in license-free software. Our research will evaluate the possibility of using license-free software for medical image manipulation.
- Computed Radiology vs. Conventional Radiology
Pakistan is in a transition phase from conventional radiology to digital radiology. To be cost effective, the concept of using PACS as a 'compulsory part' of digital radiography is not obvious to hospital management. Adding to this situation, culturally patients own their medical record and it is almost not maintained by hospital as EPR. Our project is about evaluating the use of computed radiography in an environment where film printing is inevitable.
